I'll also check out the dinner thread too - thanks for the invite.
I just heard the magic word... Let me see what's going on this Sunday.

I'm sure I've done way worse things I wasn't real proud of for free beers.

Josh if you make a trip out that way, and have room in you truck, hollar. I've been stuck in the house all week, and have some quality venting to get out.

Hey guys, sorry for the delayed response. Was camping this past weekend and just getting back into catching up at work. I've got what appears to be a basic Edelbrock...

Here's a pic where I circled where the fuel is "overflowing" -- mostly on the left side...

Also, I watched a "how to tune an Edelbrock" youtube (done by Edelbrock), and noticed they said you should adjust the (is it called a "choke plate"?) using something like a credit card, to where it's mostly closed in the resting position; I see that mine looks like it's a lot more open. Does that need to be fixed too?

Ok, not stock stuff at all, and an aluminum intake manifold too. Adjusting that Choke Plate I think has more to do with cold weather starting. Most likely what you have is a stuck float that is stuck in the open, and not stopping gasoline from filling up the bowl in the carb, and then overfilling and spewing out.

Well, the great thing for me about all this, is I'm already getting an education. I had to look up "aluminum intake manifold" to see what it was, lol. Now I know!

Let me know your opinion of this youtube I found...
Could I attempt an "abbreviated" version of it just to see if it's just the floats that are stuck? I wonder if I bite off more than that, maybe the more chance I'll screw something up.

You'll get there, and we're pretty decent help. I also see that you have a vacuum line that isn't hooked up. Bottom right side of the carb. That shouldn't be too hard to figure out where it should go to. And if it's has vacuum to it, then that would also cause a running issue.

Time to get out the door. I'm off for North Raleigh to hit the spice shop that I get my dry rubs. I'm smoking a Pork Shoulder tomorrow, and want some more brine and rub.

Y'all behave

If i remember correctly, that particular carb has floats on the left and right side of the venturis and chambers. At the front of the carb, bottom left on the mounting flange, could you check to see if there are some numbers there?

I believe those two circles covered in red are where the metering rods sit. Could definately be caused by a stuck float.

Also how many turns out are the idle mixture screws? yours has two.

Great diagram - super helpful.
Numbers are "1406 8127"

When you ask, "how many turns out are the idle screws", does that mean I would count the number of complete turns it takes to get each one all the way in to where it stops? (and I would just remember to turn it out the same number of turns to bring it back out to where it was)
