I pulled the engine and tranny yesterday, not too difficult, about the same as any 7.3.

After I got it out it doesn't look like the pan is bad, I think it might be the one valve cover.

I am doing pretty well with selling part so far, when it's all said an done... I may end up making money wit the swap.

I used to unload E99 from the trains in Benicia, ca when the superduty's first came out. Most were manuals and every one was a 6 speed. Every gas superduty that had a manual was a 5 speed with that exact shifter. Not saying they didn't make them, I just never saw one.

Today, I have finally started tearing it down. It took a while for the new tranny I bought to get here, but finally made it.

A gentleman I spoke with said early 99 had the barometric pressure sensor behind the dash, and after that they were in the PCM. The PCM I have from the parts truck is late 99, does anybody know if I can jus unhook/ splice a couple wires, or do I have to swap the entire cab harness?

Yes. I just put one in mine, when I did the clutch. Makes a big difference. My stock shifter was also worn out, as I suspect many stock ones are. The block the shifter stub pivots on is brass (oem) and it actually wears out rather then the hard plastic bushings. Go figure.... The Midwest short throw is steel.
Fix ZF Manual Transmission Ford PowerStroke & GM Duramax Shifter Problem
A new OEM replacement stub is about $100, the short throw is $215 (- the 10% first time buyer discount they offer, so really its about $195).

If your trans is not coming with a shift tower, then you will also need a few extra parts, namely the shift tower housing. I believe Midwest has that too, for about $40. I suppose you could rob that from the 2wd donor truck, but then that trans becomes harder to sell. Just get a new one, as they can also wear where the bushings sit.
You will also need the 2-piece boot bezel ( the inner white boot does a lot to reduce noise in the cab - the bezel screws go through 4 corner holes of the white boot - it does not just sit in there), as well as the shifter stalk itself.

I have an E99 manual PCM (ZDR3) that I got with the ZF6 for my swap. It won't work in my 03. So, if you end up needing/wanting a PCM, let me know.

If you're going to L99 turbo etc, I'd pass on the E99 PCM. Funny, that ZDR3 is the only time I've ever heard of another one like mine.

I'm not going to late 99, keeping the early I already have.

Love the truck on general, or the PCM? You make it sound like there is something special about the PCM.

So, if I go the local dealer I can have them flash that code onto it, correct?

Just the truck lol. The PCM is e99 so it's not as good as a late 99, something about the amount of memory or processing power- not sure.

I have no idea what they can flash onto it. I just remember that code from when I got a chip for mine like fifteen years ago.

Sorry, I'm pretty new to the forum. Not sure how to PM. I tried to figure it out. Didn't see anything standing out. Maybe I'm just not too good with this tech stuff.

I haven't really been making any progress, engine is all back in and cleaned up, plus the pedals and column are swapped. The problem I am having is the clutch release fork. I ordered one from summit, but it's not the correct one. I went to autozone, an they have the same small one listed. I went to Napa, they do not stock it and can not get it. I just called a couple dealers and they also don't stick it, but they can get it for Teusday. Does anybody have a part number for it, or know for sure a website with the correct one? Having my truck down is really becoming a hassle.
