When you go to the dealer to order, you simply request that they order your truck as dealer stock for you, or retail for you. Whichever you prefer.

They did mine for retail and it didn't get picked up for a week, they changed to dealer stock and I got a VIN the next day.

17275 are the last 5.

If you want it (relatively) quickly, you order it as dealer stock.

According to my family member retail orders are "build 2" and that may be preferable to you if you want "all the bugs worked out." (If you really want "all the bugs" worked out get a 2019 ) I have a retail order and we are going to wait a little longer for it.

Mine was originally retail, but was changed to Dealer Stock yesterday. Hoping to see movement on a VIN soon.

The advantage of retail is it will lock in rebates. Not normally a big gain, but if you have a coupon then I for one would want to cinch that up. If rebates get better by the time it comes in you still can get better ones. To my knowledge, if you dealer stock it's not longer "yours" in the eyes of Ford so the rebates aren't locked.

Well, Right now, no rebates are available. But once they start arriving, hopefully rebates will be available.

My dealer told me (for what it's worth) that retail orders have some level of priority (a pre-sold vehicle) in the production line vs. dealer stock orders... makes sense to me if they want to keep loyalist happy but common sense is often ignored for Ford cents $.

This has been the case ever since Ford issued the OK to ship back in August.

Actually there is $1000 which has been carried through under different names for several months. This month it is Black Friday and I bet there will be a Christmas promotion next.

Well Rodney, I am not sure I agree totally with that unless it only applies to orders placed after the OK to ship in August. I drank that Kool-Aid back in April but they left out the sweetener in the batch I got!

Yes, it only applies to orders placed after the OK to ship in August. What happened to your order is that it didn't get picked up until after the OK to ship and now stock orders no longer take precedent over retail. My dealer has a few cases like your of guys who ordered as soon as the bank opened and ordered as stock to get it quicker. For one reason or the other, they didn't get picked up until it was too late and at that point they were at the back of the line.

I understand all that, but mine was a retail order right from the start. The promise of being picked up in early August was broken for whatever reason. That is the fuel for my contempt of the PM's at Ford. Had I known any of this in advance I would have either ordered stock in the first place or placed a duplicate order after the OK to ship and bet on the results. Just sayin something is rotten in the procedure.

Ah, for some reason I thought you were a dealer stock order. So your situation is just an anomaly. One that sucks big time brother. It's too bad they just didn't order you another truck in Sept and sell your first order when it lands.
