1974 f100 crown vic swap
#17
I got the front suspension out of the truck and i removed the fuel line, brake line , and the line from the charcoal canister. then I started on the crown vic, I cut about a foot of the frame out of each side, then cut the sleeves out, then timed the extra metal off, and finally ground them down smooth. they measure 1-1/4" so I guess I need to buy an inch and a quarter bit somewhere..
crown vic
piece of frame
metal chop saw to cut it
ground down

I'm about to do the same swap to my 74 F100 with a 360 and 3 on the tree.
I bought my CV front end from a junkyard and while it came with all of the hardware, they didn't include the section of the frame that has those sleeves in there. Not too big of a deal, I can just make some on a lathe, but I was wondering if you could tell me how long they are so I know how long to make mine.
Great documentation in this thread by the way, will be following it closely!

Nice progress. Truck looks great.
Also for anyone after the frame sleeves in the crown vic frame, they are only welded at the top of the frame. So if you have a cut off wheel on your grinder you can cut right around the top of the sleeve and they'll slide right out.
Once you get the the powersteering line I found a pressure line from a 2000 ford focus fit the bill nicely with very minor adjustments to the bends. I don't remember the exact part numbers but I have pictures of them in my thread.

I'm definitely planning to swap the rear at some point, but id like to get the entire front finished and drive it for a while and maybe in a few months do the rear. can i use the rear out of the crown vic? ive read its too long or something like that but I haven't measured it. I'm keeping the motor for now, if anything, down the road I would do a 390 build or something like that. Id rather keep it simple with an older motor.
For the sleeves I used a unibit and then opened it up with a die grinder until they slipped in.
