I know my truck will be the same way... its gonna be a tight fit...

FWIW I did my '97 F-350 supercab recently. It was probably more work removing the old "cobra head" DP than installing the new. A couple of nice new LONG sawzall blades, made a few cuts in the pinch weld and folded it out of the way - good to go!

Diablo blades are the only way to go. All you'll need is one. A 9" runs about 15 bucks.

Mine is 3" halfway down, then flares to 3.5" and 4" as it goes horizontal. I've got no muff or kitty due to no emissions in my county and a permanent exemption cert from the dealer who sold it new. Mine is aFe and other than a little work on the firewall seam, was easy to install. Before you go cutting on the cobra head, unbolt it, pull it away from the turbo and tape off the opening, then reinstall and cut. Otherwise you could get shavings in the turbo.

Fit very well. Easy install.. I bought the stainless band clamps from my local NAPA..... And you just can't beat Riff Raff Diesel!
Thank YOU!!

I believe this to be correct and also the reason why most 4" and 5" "full exhaust systems all start with a 3" down pipe. Much bigger won't fit down between the firewall and the exhaust up pipes and the transmission, much less make the bend from vertical to horizontal without more than just bending over the pinch weld.

I have installed pretty much every brand exhaust there is.

I have to say I think diamond eye to be the best

Afe and Mbrp are the Worst I have ever installed and will never touch their crap again

Adding that my recent FloPro install experience was more difficult than it should have been.

The provided front hanger was useless and I fabbed one using the old catalytic converter hangers, the middle one on the muffler was bent in place but doesn't look right, and the rear hanger was nowhere close to working without some creativity.

The turbo flange was noticeably smaller though the pipe was the correct diameter. I did not trust it and cut it off and had the factory flange welded on.

Just my experience...

I just purchased a diamond eye 4" turbo back kit for some of these reasons..... Fitment being the main reason. $280 for a SS system is hard to beat!

I just installed the 4" Flo-Pro SS821 kit in my 97 extended cab.
The fit was pretty good just had the cut the pinch welds to get the 3" down.

Glad it worked for you! I sent them pics of mine and they said they have never seen exhaust hangers like mine. This is the front one that supports at the catalytic converter:

I don't have anything that looks like that, mine are the rubber style hanger.
