[HELP] Pulling to one side and other when braking

I have a weird problem. My truck is intermittently pulling to either side when braking. Sometimes its the right, sometimes its the left, sometimes its hard, sometimes its soft.

Its a relatively new truck. 21K miles - 2014 F-250 Super Duty 6.7 Powerstroke.

I don't want to go to the dealer yet, because its emissions deleted, tuned, and lifted. I don't really want to hear their bull**** rhetoric.

I have unplugged the ABS sensors for a few minutes while running, plugged them back in and its gone away for a period of time, but now its back again.

Has anyone else run into this? Just trying to figure out what the problem is and see if its something I can just fix myself.

If worse comes to worse I will re-install all my emissions stuff to make a visit to Ford's festival of morons.

Check on your rotors/Pads. Can you feel vibration when you apply the pedal? I just replaced all 4 rotors/Pads for the same reason. The rotors can be effected from heavy pulling, rough terrain or other things that put stress on the brake system.

I don't feel any vibration, nice and smooth. I assume you mean the vibration from warped rotors. They do squeak a little bit here and there - a sign of some heat.

The other funny thing is that it only does it once the brakes are warmed up, mainly after driving on the freeway for a bit.

Is one of your rotors shiny, almost like chrome?

Both appear to be about the same from a look and feel. They don't appear to be overly shinny or glazed. I wonder if it would be worth while to just do a front brake job and see if that cures it. Re-surface the rotors and put some higher quality pads on it.

Check your rear brakes also.

So here's some more info on this. Any help is appreciated.

I brought the truck to the dealer last week. First they never really duplicated the issue, because you do have to drive it for a while and heat things up to get anything noticeable. They just kept blaming the lift kit the whole time, I had to pick up the truck to use it for my memorial day trip this past weekend so I pulled it out of the dealer.

So while towing my 5th wheel up to the mountains this past weekend, on the way up it was driving me nuts. The harder I braked the harder it would pull to the right and I would have to compensate by steering left and it was only pulling to the right. After I got up to the campground I disconnected my ABS sensors while running, plugged them back in, and on the way home it was actually damn near perfect. I even had to stop short for some ******* and it did not pull at all.

So why would unplugging the sensors and simply plugging them back in make any difference? If there was a bad connection, it would throw warnings just like when I disconnect them I would think.

Any suggestions welcome! Thanks.

Try pulling the sensors and checking for rust. I've read in other threads that dirty sensors can cause erratic symptoms in the braking system without through codes. Just a thought.

So that kind of makes sense, because I started having this issue after driving in deep snow this past winter along with the magnesium chloride they spread on the roads.

This is still a major problem, especially when I am towing.

I have replaced all the brakes, new slotted front rotors, cut the backs. It doesn't seem to matter whether the front ABS sensors are plugged in or not at this point. Still pulls to one side. I am very desperate at this point. The dealer is no help... they just want to blame the lift kit and bigger tires.

I'm assuming this is a 4wd ?

Make SURE bolts at both ends of tracking rod are TIGHT.

This is the ONLY component keeping front axle centered under the truck.

Yep - we even ditched the stock radius arms and drop brackets to put on the upgraded radius arms, has the castor re-aligned.

Is this just a piece of crap lift? Anyone else having issues with a rough country 4.5" lift on an 11-16 model?

Is your front end higher than the rear WITH your camper hitched up ??

Are you running ridiculously rough treaded tires ??

10ply tires ??

Incorrect Caster will give you Fits.

I like lifted trucks more than anyone, but NOT for towing heavy.

Sounds like sticking caliper slide pins... if you used never seize on the pins or neglected to replace them, that's the issue

Are you running front coil springs or coilovers ?
