PCV rerouting, and low compression questions...
I'm gonna check compression on all my cylinders tonight, but before I do, I was going to ask around here to get an idea about the PCV stuff...
Can you easily (without affecting operation) reroute the PCV down to the ground and plug the existing hole?
How soon does cylinder 8 usually start losing compression due to this?
(126500 miles for me currently)
I just notice a kinda stuttered idle, so I figured I'd go investigate before its too late.
Is there any stuff you can put down the hatch to clean some of the gunk outta that area of the head?
Thanks for any information or discussion in general,
Luke

Luke, I don't know why you would want to run it to the ground. The issue isn't venting PCV out of the engine, but rather venting it across all the ports instead of the #8 runner. I (and many others) have run a new hose from the PCV valve to the center tree on the intake. I happened to have a capped off port that I used, and put the cap on the rear port where it currently goes. From my understanding this is what Ford started doing in 95.
Given that the #8 runs much hotter due to the flaw, it's anybody's guess what is going to take the beating in #8. I have a 93 and my #8 posts 40 on the compression test I am hoping it is a burnt exhaust valve and will verifty tonight by doing a leakdown test. For some it is the rings or a hole in the piston...I hope that's not the case though.
If you looking to do any cleaning, I would run some Marvel Mystery oil in my gas and oil...stuff does wonders.
