2011 vs 2016 6.7 f350
Hey all,
Haven't been keeping up but I have a 2011 f350 lariat 4x4 lb cc srw with 3.55 e locker since new with only 56000 miles.
The dealer has a 2016 f350 lariat 4x4 lb cc drw with 3.73, for about $12,000 off sticker, which is well under invoice enough for me to be okay with.
I'm consistently pushing the weight limit with one of my trailers and am now looking at a bigger horse trailer so really considering trading in. They are slightly above blue book now so again feeling okay.
So what are the differences between the 2011 and 2016? Anything that would might want me to keep the 2011?
Thanks
Jesse

Just remember that the reason the 16 is so cheap is the 17's are right around the corner and upgraded in every way possible. So, if you don't care about having the latest design, bells/whistles, and increased output then jump on the deal. There won't be deals like that on 17's for quite a while. However, for kicks look over the 2017's. You might see something you find worth waiting for. FYI the order banks for the 17's are already open and they start getting built on July 11th...

Yes, the 16's are still going down the line. I'm not sure exactly how long the shut down will be. More than hours for sure. However, it won't be like the lengthy F150 changeover that cost Ford some sales. In that situation, they literally had bulldozers inside the plant to level everything and start from scratch. For the SD line, it's a more streamlined process. Many of the SD components are made off site and those facilities are already ready to produce for the 17's. In fact, pre-production 2017's are already going down the line alongside the 16's.

You should double check my facts.....
IIRC, these are the significant changes
Changed to larger turbo (both compressor & turbine).
New larger turbo has better exhaust brake 'function'. Prior to 2nd Gen, complaints that the exhaust brake wasn't that effective.
There is now a separate button to turn the exhaust brake function on/off.
Updated downpipe.
New injectors.
Change to crankshaft.
New more robust torque converter.
More material in exhaust manifold.
More material in heads.
New head & exhaust gaskets.

Going from a 2011 to a 2016 motor would the default be that the exhaust brake is on? The new trucks to my understanding have a switch on the dash to turn on and off.
