IMO if the interior & exterior is in good shape it shows the owner took pride. The engine should look fairly clean without gobs of oil or caked dirt, another pride thing. Ask to start it cold, that will tell you a lot about the overall condition of the engine. If it has already been started (warmed up) walk away and come back another day. And needless to say ask the owner why they are selling, they usually give you a BS answer though.

Also 10,000 is a bit much for the millage, IMO. I paid $9500 in 2007 with 148,000 miles but each area demands different prices.

OK that's what I paid for mine but its an F-350 and had 240K miles on it along with a fresh rebuilt trans with billet TC, intake, exhaust, chip and gauges along with fresh carpet on the interior. Just to give you an idea.

As I said this will be my first diesel and the cold start is something I don't know a lot about. I've always been told you don't just jump in a diesel and crack it off. Also was told on hot days you should let them ideal for a bit to cool down the turbo.

Well you want to let the glow plugs warm up a bit before you start it but I agree with Hussler you want to do this yourself dont let him start it up for you. And yes generally you want to let the turbo cool a bit before shutting it down.

I would offer 9 and see what he says, assuming everything checks out on it.

That one is over priced, the "custom" interior is horrendous, the impossible to find window switch is broke...

I paid 8K for mine 4 years ago with 247K at the time.

I just notice the step side bed... that's pretty slick I have never seen one on a 7.3

To the OP. Price varies with area, If I were you I'd look a state or two beyond your home state for driving, or further across the country for what you want. Its worth a flight to go get a truck that really is worth 10 grand.
