Got 0.46" of rain in my location from the one that passed over the Valley this AM.
I guess some palm trees got set on fire from lightening strikes, too.

Spring ahead tonight folks!
On a whim, I participated in a Start-up weekend event last night and today. http://startupweekend.org/
I think this is a great idea, supported locally and a great chance to meet some young, energetic folks. I was just an 'agriculture expert', but really liked the idea of using technology well know in other industries and potentially applied to Ag (traditionally a low tech industry). http://ci.camarillo.ca.us/docs/SWVC%20Seminars.pdf

I want to attend one of your seminars on how to successfully germinate tomato seeds and get them far-enough along to actually grow!
Having the darndest-time this year getting stuff to start!
I believe I have discovered, however, that I'm keeping things way too wet!
Sure is nice to personally know one of the world's foremost authorities, and I wanna' "lean" on ya' a bit.
So, what kind of sensors will I need to get started growing within IoT??

Too damp is a common problem, next most common is too dry!
Keep them in a sunny spot outside, don't try and germinate them in the kitchen window.
I bet you've already taken the first step in IoT with a smart house thermostat or sprinkler system? Don't waste $ on Tomato monitoring yet! Unless you can put a camera on it and watch it grow from the iPhone. But that's like watching paint dry...

Up in NorCal for a few days to get another truck running and bring it back to SoCal.
My brother's old chev truck is a goner and he decided to go old school. Got a '76 F250. Beautiful truck, floors are perfect, no rust.
When I get back I'll post a few pics.
On another subject, the rain is fierce up here. Almost nonstop this weekend and heavy.
The lakes are almost back to full and I have to say, this rain coupled with the spring melt will bring way to much water. Got a feeling we're gonna see some pretty big run offs.

A couple weeks ago I went on a three day ride with a buddy on our BMWs, and rode past a number of reservoirs (Cachuma, Casitas, Twitchill, Lake Success, and Isabella)... All I can remember thinking was that if this is what the end of the long awaited El Niño looks like, we are in big trouble.

Sprinkling pretty good here this a.m.
We had some rain up off the 126 y/day late afternoon, coming back from a memorial service up in Santa Paula.
A little Monday morning trivia...In 1917, Henry Ford built his first tractor from car parts and named it the "Fordson."
How did that name come about?

Fordson was the cable address of the company originally producing the tractors, Henry Ford & Son, Inc.
Previously, the "Ford Tractor Company" name had been trademarked by speculators in the Twin Cities, hoping that Henry would buy the rights to use it from them.
He didn't.

Actually, they DID make a few, but that isn't where they expected to make their real money.
By the time the speculators went under, Fordson was such an established name in tractors (with as high as seventy percent of the market at one time) that Henry saw no need to change it.
As a brand name, Fordson's were built (albeit overseas) as late as 1964, after which Ford's tractors were simply labeled Ford.
