The dent that started it all

This is the truck that swayed my chevy love for the 73-79 ford f series. A friends dad had it, he plowed driveways all over town all winter (not with these tires but if u met him it wouldnt suprise you) drove it to work all summer hauling parts and heavy equiptment buckets and whatever else in the back. It was home built but mostly consisted of a 429 and a 4 speed and half ton axles. He ran these tires in the local parade and even got a couple rotatoin burnout out of them just because we bet him he couldnt...after pickin up the u joint peices outta the road he winked and chuckled and said told ya it would lol. What started your love for dents?

Red white and ol blue. Those were 40" tsl swampers on 5 lug wagon wheels. Never really went in any mud but tore up the trails on their property good everyspring. I dont think i once ever saw the driver window up except for winter...just at night tho plowin had heat on high and window down!!

Awesome looking rig and great story.

For me, it was my dad's 4x4 1973 F250 Ranger XLT.
No pictures of it, but that's what got me started.

My enthusiasm for Fords started in 1978 when my oldest brother bought a 65 Mustang - 289/T-10 that still wore 4-lug wheels because it was formerly a six banger. We went cruising and got many, many thumbs ups! The 65 has been rebuilt/restored twice.. once in 1986 by me since brother was in Antarctica and just kept sending me money. He sold it my other brother who did a refresh in 1995. I finally bought it in 2007 and it is inline for a thorough refresh.

The F-series trucks caught my eye in 1981 after noticing a guy at the entrance of my subdivision owned a 76/77 shortbed F150 Ranger XLT 4x4,, dark blue with white wagon wheels and 33s. I had to drive by it every day to get to school... I thought "That truck has the right stance and is just bad azz!!!" Roll forward to 2009 and I finally found a decent one...

My dad has always had a dent, he was a feed dealer before he became a snap on dealer and I spent a lot of days riding along with him mostly in his '79 F350 dually. We'd load it up with all those feed bags, then drive... (Every so often stopping cause it'd get vapor locked) Then unload them all by hand. I learned alot, worked alot, but mostly just loved being out with my dad in his truck.

77 F150 Ranger 4x4 that Dad bought new. Grew up driving this, on its third engine we finally parked it when it got to having no oil pressure...

My current project belonged to a neighbor friend and the first time I drove it was when I was probably 12 years old or so... the power of the 390 made quite an impression on me!

I would like to find a club or crew cab dent to add to the collection yet so the family can travel comfortably...

In 81 I needed a new truck and found a 77 1/2 SWB Flareside F150 4x4. Loved it from the time I test drove it. I had been diehard Chevy up till that point......Havent owned a Chev truck since that day....Took that poor old truck places that God never intended a truck to go. Wish I never would have gotten rid of it, but when I started having kids, the single cab no longer worked. I fell in love with a brand new '92 F150 FWD SWB Super cab on the Ford dealers lot so, bought it then the ex wife made me sell the 77 1/2 because "we don't need 2 trucks" LOL We got divorced a little over a year later LMAO I know I have some pics of it around but that would mean digging thru boxes of pics..........they were take WAY before digital came along.

Great thread idea, keep the stories a coming. As soon as I dig out some old pics from a camera that uses film (remember those and picture albums?) and scan them, I will tell the tale.

Did some digging found a few more. The red and white 2 tone was owened by the same friends dad as the blue truck in first post. It was a 1979 f350 full time 4x4 with a 400 and a auto. My buddy got this truck when his dad was done with it and he parted it out it had a rotten cab and his dad got the bed with a tree in the woods one fall. The 78 f150 was my first dent. Got it when i was 20 or 21, 29 now. The 300 i6 was pulled out but i took it home and put it all together and low and behold i had everything and it worked. It was my 2nd older daily at that time and first ford truck but it tought me so much more. We went thru hell together and always came out on top, never left me stranded!! I put that poor thing thru hell it was my not so high speed tractor!! I6 and a 4 speed i even drove it 90 miles one way to work a few time but u could watch and hear it suck gas!!

Old blue from first post right behind it

My not so high speed tractor...I6 and a cherry bomb u could hear me comin exhaust exited right infront of the pass back tire

My then gf now wife takin a pic of me takin a pic of my carnage.....i went to pull people out of a little local mudshow ditchbog aka (drunkenboggin) and would up in it myself....hosed it off changed the fluids and replaced the cdi box (went out everytime i wheeled it hard or put it thru deeper water) and kept on tickin. Its behind a buddys house now waitin to b rescued but he dont wanna sell it back :/

My love for dents started in 2012. I was 15 years old, moving lawns and clearing weeds in people's yards for money. when I saw this sitting in the back yard of a clients neighbors house. Didn't think much of it until right before I got my license 3-4 months later. Decided to go talk to the guy, walked 2 miles to the guys house, and stole if for $900. It sat where it is in the pics since 2004, and fired right up with a new battery and a splash of gas in the carburator.ended up putting a new carb on it, and drove it home. Been running ever since. Bought it January 31st 2012
