See where I am going?
I figured race weight = 7000lbs
Trailer with 5500lb axles = 2500lbs
Random stuff= 500lbs
Total =~10000lbs

Still, even if i'm over I figured a 350 would be fine. I wont go anywhere quick, but should do the job fine.

Am I overestimating a 350's capabilities? I talked to a ton of guys that said i'd be fine even with a newer F150...I've towed ~15k with my '93 F150 back in the day a few times, but I wouldnt do it often.

If you have an android phone, download the cPro craigslist app. Lets you filter what years you want, mileage, it really helps.

Clean low mileage but not quite what you're after
1996 Ford F-250 Super Cab

And there's a bunch of crew cabs out there. Hard to find a nice F350 single cab

Saw the price, and was almost sure it was going to be a diesel. I wish Crew Cab 460's sold for that, even my raggedy one would be worth a few bucks!

You better do more research.
1. they dont make 5500lb axles
2. a 10k trailer (5k axles) weighs about 4,000lbs
3. That leave you about 7,000lb weight capacity with 1,000lbs tonge weight on the tow vehicle

A f350 460 4.10 truck would do just fine towing a 7,000b truck on a 10k trailer

I'm not sure where you're getting your empty weight from. I just looked about 6 different 10,000 pound GVW trailers, and not a single one of them weighed more than 3,000 pounds. Most were actually under 2,500 pounds.

I dont really care what the manufactures SAY they weigh. I am going by what they REALLY do

My 14k deck over trailer was advertised as 3500lbs. it was more like 5200lbs
They all lie and say they are lighter than they areThen in the small print that say weighs may vary

A f350 460 4.10 truck would do just fine towing a 7,000b truck on a 10k trailer
Looking again, I just crossed my numbers I guess, 5200 vs 3500 axles. Regardless, I plan on buying a trailer intended for the weight.

You answered my root question with your final statement though, thanks.
