Looking at F350s with 460, any year better? Other things to consider?

Oh I agree with you, I would love to keep all my vehicles. No matter the vehicle I get I take pride in them and each one has a special meaning for it. Even that $500 beater tends to grow on you when you drive it Any ways I wish you the best of luck and will continue to follow hoping you find what your looking for. 1000HP huh? very nice what does it get down the track in time?

I was looking for the same truck you are . They are hard to find; 460, 5 spd, 4WD, regular cab, in clean condition (a lot of variables there, but the 5 spd and clean are the most difficult to find). I found an F-250 (TTB) on eBay in Las Vegas that was absolutely pristine. 65K mile XL, 460/ZF/4.10s. It was white, which I am sucker for, so I bought it. Cost me $1000 to ship it out to the east coast. I ship trucks from the south and west all the time, because I hate rust; I don't buy anything local unless its new.
I paid $7200 for it. Upon arrival and my first in person inspection, it did not disappoint. The interior is absolutely pristine. Door sills are not even scuffed. Full service records, etc, etc. 1 little dent in the tailgate. I was afraid I'd never find another one as clean at what I considered to be a great price. I am currently looking for a clean Dana 60, as that is the only compromise I had with this truck. I have yet to see a comparable truck on eBay, so I think I made the right call. I am, however, having a hard time finding a clean front axle.

You better weigh your truck again. a reg cab 6.4 truck weighs in at about 7000lbs and any trailer rated for that kind of weight is going to be 4k +

Man if I start looking at trucks all across the country I may get in trouble haha!
I'll be towing with the 350, how much less capable are the 70's rigs? I'd love a classic too.

Nice truck Pappawheely, I always wonder what is the hook like sticking out between the cab and bed?
I'm in aw though that color is great and damn near what my 05 F350 has. My 1994 will one day look that way only difference is mine is not 4x4 so that will be my future project.

Most everyone I've talked to says a 16/18ft car hauler will weigh 22-2500lbs.

Ok, so you are still over 7000lbs and car trailer is rated at 7k (meaning the axles are rated for 6k, plus 1000lbs tongue weight. That means a car trailer rated at 7k that weighs 2500lbs cab only haul 4500lbs.
See where I am going?
