Speaking of which, There are two ways to hold that fuel pump driveshaft up in there when you are installing the fuel pump. The 1st way is to pack the passage the shaft goes up in to with grease to temporarily hold it still. This way never worked for me personally. 2nd way is via a long threaded bolt. You will find either an empty threaded hole ( since it's a crate engine) or a bolt in that hole that seemingly doesn't hold anything. Right in line where the pump shaft goes in the block. Find the correct size longer bolt and tighten it up against the pump shaft. Just hard enough to hold the shaft while you install the fuel pump.

Just found a pic.

If not just put a short bolt in there to be used as a plug when you are done. That's what Chebbie did. From memory I believe it's 3/8" coarse.

Thanks Mike, I will do that... after slapping my forehead several times... like Duh?? Hello in there?? I will have to cut the hole in the top of the tank for the sender, but I have full access to it, so not a problem... The FG is thick, like at least 1/4", so the self tappers and a good gasket might do the trick, plus a thin coat of silicone.

I will post some photos as I progress....

I have a friend who added a larger tank in his truck and use the red rtv silicone on the sender and guess he used way to much as some dripped down into the tank that got sucked up into the pickup tube that caused him some programs for a while.

I guess he did not have a filter sock on the pickup pipe in the bigger tank..

Some rtv silicone should not be used as a sealer with gas passing through it..

Good advice Rich... thanks from me, and many a reader I'll bet. I see the 'Blue Goo' and the Yellow Death, used in excess on valve cover gaskets all the time... If some is good, more is not always good... I have the red, blue, and yellow silicone, with the red being high temp... I also have some 'Forma gasket' brown, which may be good for gas fumes. I will look for some specifically used in gasoline applications... thanks again amigo...

I like to use Neoprene for gas sending unit or a cork with out any sealer just snug enough to not leak.

Yeah , I really wanted headers , But California pulled the Plug on the C.A.R.B. program
I had my eye on a set of Shorty headmans , I would of had to add the Air injection tubes but that's just drilling and welding no biggy .
Engine is in , Plans are to Fire her up Saturday or Sunday
