67 Dana 60 Posi into 57 housing for my 56 F250
Will a 67 1/2 ton Dana 60 Posi unit fit into a 57 3/4 ton Dana 60 houseing?I would like to swap these parts into the early one and install into my 56 F250.
Is there going to be any issues such as different spline etc?Are bearing sizes same?Has anyone done this before?
I would like to swap out stock 4.88s and was thinking this would be an option seeing as I have all the parts on hand and useing the 57 I could do this without taking my 56' apart.
Thanks
Dave

I think all you can do is compare bearings, spider gears, etc. in the catalogs. I'd suspect the axle splines aren't the same.
I looked up a 67 F250 on NAPA's site (by mistake) and it shows a D44, not a D60. Are you sure they are both D60's? They show a diff rebuild kit (bearings and shims) for '67-on, 1/2T and 3/4T, all are D44's.
