Performance Upgrades

Recently I've been focusing a lot on modifying the appearance of my rig and not much on doing anything about the actual performance of the truck. I was wondering if anybody could recommend any upgrades for the motor that are actually worth buying.

Right now I already have a K&N Intake system and a Custom tune from Mike at 5star. I was considering an aftermarket exhaust, but have heard nothing but bad things about the sounds that come from this particular V10 engine.

If anyone has any input that would be great.

I have Gibson cat back exhaust on my 2006 and really liked it. when muffler started rusting out I installed this muffler. louder than gibson at idle and part throttle but no drone and sounds good at highway speeds. heres link on you tube.

Gibson sounded good I really liked the sound, was actually a little quieter than this one. I bought this muffler for cheap on line and figured I try it and overall I do like it.

The 3V V10 isn't the same for exhaust sound as the old 2V V10, I have for fun tried straight pipes after the Cat on both and the 3V has a much more impressive and nice loud sound vs the 2V as long as you stay under 3000rpm's... Above that it sounds like a fighter jet or 5.9 cummins diesel at 10k+ rpm without the turbo.
Taming it to an all-around good sound I haven't mastered yet......

My truck has a three bolt flange pipe welded at an angle to the pipe right after the cat. It is plugged with a plate and is held on with wing nuts. I think someone was after the best sound as well. It's an 05 3v. I've always wanted to uncap it just for fun to hear how it sounds. Hey maybe put a valve there that can be remotely opened from one of my aux. switches, I could go from quiet to loud with one switch.
