no oil running under rocker cover

This may not be a problem, but concerned. 97 7.3, I had a IDM malfunction. I was not sure at time, and removed the rocker cover -passenger side. am replacing gasket and wiring harness in side cover area. I started it up with cover off, to check before reinstalling cover. I see no oil running anywhere, not from push rods, no where, several min. light smoke from push rod holes, but no oil showing from top of push rods. Oil pressure gauge pops up to midway immed. is this normal, or do i have a problem. I am used to gas jobs throwing oil all over, first diesel , Thank youall in advance

The only place you will see oil is coming out of the little aluminum spouts on the back of each injector. It just kinda spurts out when the injector fires. It's not a whole lot like you would think.
