2008 For F150 compared to 2005 model?

Besides being "new" are there any particular advantages or disadvantages to the 2008 F150 supercrew short bed?

All things created equal, the 2008 will have improvments over the 2005. But still check it over because it is a 7 year old truck and no telling where and what its been through

The sparkplugs will be the newer one-piece design and won't break when replacing. Also revised VCT Solenoids.

My dad wanted an inexpensive pickup as an extra vehicle (just to haul stuff and take to flea markets and such); their primary vehicle is a 2014 Chrysler 300 C AWD. We found him a 2008 F150 Regular Cab (126" WB) with 105,078 miles, 2 wheel drive, STX with 3.73 LS and the 4.6 V8 at a local dealer (local to him). It had been on the market 125 days. The tailgate needs a paint job and there are a few other scuffs on the body. Otherwise the body is in great shape. He'll likely get it repainted. It has a clean carfax (one owner) and dealership service records. The dealership just put new tires and brakes on, it has absolutely no rust and the interior is super clean. Because of the few scuffs and tailgate, I guess others were afraid of it. They were originally asking $9,750. By the time I found it online, 125 days on the lot, they had market it down to $5,977. We offered $5,400. They took the offer. He's in Akron, OH picking it up now. A new paint job and this will be a stellar second vehicle. We got it for a steal!! He previously had a 1998 F-150 XLT and I have a 2013 F-150 STX. The 2008 will hopefully be as reliable as the other 2 have been.
