Heavy duty front bumper

On a side note, all this talking about bumpers got me thinking about how I would want to modify mine. My Ex is not really a hardcore off roader, it is being built more as a highway hauler that will have little to no issues with dirt or logging roads. So, the extreme approach angle of my MKS bumper is not really needed...
I have reached out to the guys at HNC, to see if they are up for modifying my bumper. Here is a photoshop of what I am thinking. I call it the Bull Moose Knuckle Sandwich. It basically says, "Get the heck out of the way!"

That's a bit more like it for a steel bumper.

I too have been talking with them, but about adapting my current bumper... Unfortunately, they think it would be easier to just build a whole new bumper, and I don't have that level of cash at the moment, not when I need wheels, tires and brakes all done between now and spring.
I know priorities, priorities

Front-
The hd base bumper, add the single bar with tabs under it for 30" led bar
Stick with the single set of Rd led
Or
Pay 160 additional to get the 4 Sq led
Rear-
They only have the one option.
Add 80 to upgrade the lights to square
I kinda think the sq lights are to modern?? It's 240 additional dollars.
I'm planning on picking up the rear in raw steel and modifying the rear for a spare tire / gas swing out setup then return them for powder coating.
Also upgrade to the synthetic rope.
Total cost w all the lights in round and winch is right at $2500, sq jumps to 2750.
Any thoughts on the lighting?

I have the rounds, and they are nice... They were not offering the squares at the time I got my bumper, otherwise, I may have gone that direction. I kind of like the symmetry of the two lights on each side.
It ultimately comes down to what your gut impression is. If you like the round, then swing that way. I will say this, some states have laws limiting the number of uncovered lights on the front of a vehicle, mainly the headlights and one set of fog lights. My round set are wired in as my fogs, so I am legal, but if I had four up front, I could run into issues with different state laws and the LEOs there.
As for the synthetic rope, I wish I had gotten it, but that is an upgrade that I can make sometime down the road. I am however very grateful that I got the winch and the bumper. The winch has already saved two trucks from the ocean and my Ex from some VERY soft sand that I was towing a chevy in...
Lastly, please take many photos of your bumper mods. With what you are planning, the extra depth of the HNC rear bumper may be perfect.
I can't wait to see how everything comes out!

Using the rope style flat fair lead you can put your license plate and camera on a spring hinge that flips up to reveal the winch faillead. Or use a spring clamp ....others at the rope fair leads are not nearly as thick.... Go back in this thread and look at mine.
