On the road with Steering Issue... HELP.

Hey guys, today I noticed a popping sound when I turn the steering wheel all the way either right or left. At first I didn't worry but then I was testing it in the parking lot and when I move the steering wheel as I'm parked a half turn left or right I hear a slight pop. Any thoughts on what it could be? I'm about 800 miles into a 2000 mile trip over he next 10 days.

Start by checking the front hubs are disengaged...

2nd swaybar or swaybar links may be toast
3rd ball joints have had it

No you wouldn't, my previous ex went from Tennessee to Fort Lauderdale at at least 80-90mph with them engaged. Just caused me crappy fuel mileage

Wow that could be it. Yesterday I was getting 23+mpg today more like 18mpg. I thought it could be due to the wind we went through. That's the first thing I'll check in the am.

I do know the 4x4 controls are not all but not sure about the hubs being locked.

Just so I'm clear the arrow will be in the 12 o'clock position if they're engaged correct? I'll google it also.

Mine are covered but I think auto is counter clockwise. Also drive it in reverse about 50 feet once set to auto.

Well the DS hub was in lock position. PS was in auto. You were correct turn to the left. Looked at the manual.

Still feel like I hear the popping when I turn the wheel all the way to the left. It's definitely coming from the DS somewhere.

Try reverse for a bit, sometimes they will not disengage easily unfortunately.

Hate to say this, but the actual DS hub maybe starting to fail... This happened recently to Krazy Matt, and to me last year.
