Help Build - 2002 fF350 7.3l CC DRW
Hi all,
I bought a 2002 Super Duty F-350 Crew Cab Chassis Cab (176.2″ wb.— 60″ CA). 7.3l, 4x4, DRW.
Need some help building my truck. For the most part it will be a daily driver.
This truck will be built for pleasure driving and it will have :
- IMT 814-H10 Electric/Hydraulic Crane
- Front bumper winch
- Hidden Fifth wheel
- other upgrades in future
My first question, my door sticker didn't have an axle code the tag on the diff looks like 4:10, but is it limited slip?
Because I am in the process of building this truck up, should I get a different axle? all advice helps.
thank you,

What is wrong with the current axle that you would swap it? Since it is DRW you have a higher towing/ load capacity. The gears will also help in the towing department. I am not positive but do believe your rear axle should be a sterling like the other F250/F350 except yours is DRW. Rather than a factory LS look at something like a Detroit Tru-Trac for it.
What other plans do you have for the truck?

I will look up the Detroit Tru rac. I was thinking of a gear vender set but it seems pricey.
I have read about a bunch mods on the site and will do a few. Air filter and exhaust will be soon.
I do have a 2004 axle with 3.73 and was toying with the idea of swapping it in. Not sure what the fuel mileage increase would be. Also, I wouldn't be towing more than a trailer with a car on it.

I saw the hidden 5th wheel and figured you would be moving some weight. Do you plan on going up or down in tire size? Will you be changing the front to match the track width of the rear? Definitely check out the 7.3 section for engine stuff as well.

thanks for the links.
The Hidden Fifth is for my my buddy so he can borrow it. Most Towing would be local and and anything real heavy wouldn't be going to far.
The lay of the land is flat, so I am not to concerned about any heavy loads
I have done a fair bit of research on tire size and it seems that the stock tire size gets better fuel mileage. So I will focus my research on the manufacturer that produces the best quality tire. Also my research showed 17" rims dont fit proper so any wheel cahnge would be 18" or up.
I did toy with multiple wheel sizes and contemplated 19.5 and 22.5 to eliminate the drw and move to srw while maintaining the weight rating for the rear axle. The cost to modify exceeded a years worth of fuel so I felt it wasn't worth it. Would look very cool though.
But I am always open to suggestions.
