Now that I have more experience with conversion vans, I want to do some preventive maintenance. Has anyone ever gone around and resealed the windows and high top?
Years ago in the mid to late 60's my dad used to build the wood framed aluminum camper shells. I was little and my favorite job was putting the black rubber trim in the aluminum track. If i remember we used a grey putty under the aluminum track and windows before they were screwed on.

Do they still use that putty on the high top?

I am thinking the proper way would be to remove the aluminum trim, clean it, and reseal it.
The windows appear to have a foam weather strip like material..
There is absolutely no visible signs of rust on mine right now but it looks like the installers used a black silicone behind the aluminum track as I can see the edges where it squeezed out. It looks like the silicone is starting to separate slightly so I want to catch it now before it becomes a problem.....
