at least fast enough to destroy any plow i put in front of it!!
rigs like that usually top out around 25-30 mph.
when making extra heavy moves, they usually run around 1/2 mph.
for just large moves they will run 15-20 mph.
the one LARGE load i did was a refinery cracking tower. 250 tons, 145 ft long and 12 ft diameter for a 17 foot total height.
had to move it 6 miles to put it on a barge for it to go to Lousiana.
69 autocar with a V12, 5 speed main trans, 2 5 speed reducer transmissions for a total of 125 gears. 100 ton planetary rears.
trailer was 10 6 axle prime mover segments, each segment had 24 wheels and a 30 ton lift rating. we got 2 miles into the move and hit debris in the road the sweepers and spotters missed and blew out 30 tires.
it took close to 6 hours to change the tires to get us back on our way, and total run took 26 hours.
power company had to disconnect a lot of lines to let us pass.
