2011 F250 6.2L Gasser reviews
Hi,
I am in the process of replacing my current truck. I have the opportunity to pick up a 2011 F250 XLT Supercab with the 6.2L gasser. My worry is that it has 125K miles on it. The truck has been very well maintained, just got a new set of tires and brakes all around. Seems to run 'true' since it got 60K miles off the last set of tires. I can grab it for $10K.
Should I be worried about the mileage? Any other issues I should check for? Could I get some reviews on reliability?
One more (maybe should save this for if/when I get it) reviews on cold air intake kits. (Worth it?)
Thanks a bunch.

Easy question first: cold air intakes are a waste of money. The stock breather already brings air in from outside the engine bay.
The not so easy question: 2011, XLT, Scab, 6.2L w/ 125K - If it has truly been well maintained, there is no reason you can't double the mileage. Assuming it's 4x4, your average retail value is about 18,000, so that price isn't too bad on the surface. One thing I've learned over the years is, it is impossible to put miles on a vehicle without introducing wear on the interior. The steering wheel gets worn, the seat material and springs get worn from sliding your behind in and out of it. etc, etc.
This is the subjective part that only you can assess. Does it have carpet, and is that carpet burned/stained/threadbare? Is the headliner clean? Does everything work as it should?
I think the 6.2L is a great engine that is dead reliable and will give many miles of service if it hasn't been abused.
Hope this helps.

I picked up a 2012 in July.. 2 wheel drive XL.... with 136,000...
look at the computer.. HOURS..
mine::
136,000 miles at 4,100 hours.. that is like 33 miles per hour.. a freeway truck
idle hours ... is 600.... so not so bad idle time...
was the spark plugs replaced at 100,000... 16 plugs...
Ford expects the 6.2L for 250,000 and so do I. and the transmission and final drive is the same used in the diesel

its part of the System check... from the left side of steering wheel..
brake check
electrical check
hours run
hours idle.
someone else posted it here. that is how I learned of it.
and the reset button does NOT work on the Hours... so numbers are from NEW ... like the odometer

It all depends. The engine could go another 100k miles. With a gas engine though you get into the mid 150s your talking about an engine that could die tomorrow, next week, or in 5 years.
Brakes and tires all the way around is good as that's probably 2k easily. But over 100k my concern would be wear and tear items like front ends, batteries, alternator, starter, radiator, exhaust. Not that these items all go but over 100k these tend to have a higher probability of going. Also your in the zone where where all your fluids should be changed.
