Some guys here say the blackvue will struggle threw tint. https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/thread...-install.6488/
Not that I want to shy away from it. It is just a big chunk of change for me (I don't make allot) and I need to research and know for sure what I am getting before spending me kids college funds.

I admit, this is probably the most expensive dash cam I have considered buying but after going back and forth with the research until my head hurts, I am am just going to bite the bullet and get this one. From the looks of it, we won't get to the 50 unit mark but I can make it work.

Sure, it's a little steep, but from what I've read it should be the one and only unit I'll need to buy (vs having it die in a year and buy another one).
For me it's crucial to have good video - if I'm hit I want the video, but if I'm hit while doing something for the FD, I want the best video I can get. Too many people target government vehicles hoping for a quick payout so I want as much proof as possible to back me up.

i picked up a Cobra CDR 840 dash cam at Costco last week for $79.99, and a 32 gig SD card from walmart for $17.99 to mount in my work truck. works great except for slightly low volume, but i have since turned the mike off.
with the 32 gig SD card, i get 8 hours, 45 minutes of 1080 DP HD record time.
clarity is very clear, you can see the make of cars passing me in the fender mount spot mirrors.

Looking forward to it Twitch, thank you again for doing all the leg work on this.
Its not often you see this kind of extra effort done by "strangers"...from the Brotherhood of the traveling Hub Zerk to the Free Parts thread to this kind of group buy...makes this community awesome!

Twitch, I appreciate the time and effort you spent in putting this GB together, thank you. Unfortunately I'm gonna have to bow out. Maybe if we do this again in December I can swing it.

Yes, thanks a bunch! I as well can't swing it now, I am already in debt from the last couple months and with christmas and all coming up I just can't. I really wanted to get two too, one for my X and one for my fathers truck.

Just ordered mine. I have a dashcam app on my phone, but my phone is usually too busy doing other stuff, like navigating or wazing for cops. Plus, it's a pain to set up every time. There have been a few times I really would have liked to have had it running but I hadn't bothered to set it up.
