1995 f150 with a 302

Hey guys I'm looking at buying a 95 ext cab long box half ton with a 5speed, is the 302 a decent motor? I have never owned a small block V8, I've had countless I6's a big block and a diesel but never a 5.0 or 5.8. I remember many many moons ago my uncle had a 86 efi 5.0 and I was not at all impressed with so I never bothered with them, is the 95-96 model years any better or will I be looking for parts to do a 351/zf5 swap after buying it?

As long as the truck has 3.55 or lower(numerically higher) gears you will enjoy driving it, but if it's got 3.31 or 3.08 gears it'll be a slug. The '94+ motors make more power than the early EFI motors.
