What is it?

Just got a 79 E 350 with a 7.3. My FIRST diesel. I found this under the hood and don't know what it is. Looks like cruse related but I don't see any controls in the cab. Can I take it out and throw it away?

Yep---disconnect the electrical connection, plug the vacuum source and remove the cable from the throttle plate---that should eliminate it completely.

Not sure how close that system was to GM's of the same era but on/off/set controls were on the turn signal stalk.

Someone must have done an engine swap. There weren't any diesel Econolines in 79. They had a the 7.5L 460 but no diesel.

And Like what was already mentioned that parts is for the cc. The controls would have been in the steering wheel horn pad or on the turn signal stalk.

Once again the experts bail me out when the internet fails.
1. Lets show how stupid we really are. You're almost right fordman75. No engine swap, I didn't even know what year it is .. It's a 1998.
2. Weren't the cc controls on the steering wheel? Looks like some has messed with the column.
3. I pulled the whole thing out intact. Anybody need CC?
Thanks to all that helped.

A 98 is a whole different animal then a 79. A 98 with a 7.3L would be a powerstroke turbo diesel. And yes I'm pretty sure the cc controls would be on the steering wheel on a 98.

Ok I give up. But that brings up another question. It's a 1989 I either can't type or can't think. (It's white if that helps)
My new question .. Is it a Powerstroke? I know there is no turbo.

Are my two Chevrolet's starting to show yet?

Nope not a Powerstroke. A 89 is a 7.3L IDI. I've got one of those in a 91 Ford truck sitting in my back yard.
