Agreed, don't mess with a steering box. Get a new, aftermarket unit, it will make 200% difference. I forgot the brand name, someone will chime in, 600-800$ i think. The stock boxes suck even when new

A red head is 450$ if core is returned, not including shipping. You can do the change yourself. the price was with estimated labour. Don't mess around. I'm not saying its going to shred apart tomorrow, but why chance the gear going when your driving 80mph

That's some lift you have on there.

What year truck is it? It doesn't look much like my truck.

You can use red head, although I'm not real happy with mine. It eliminated the death wooble but provides much less power assist, kind of a trade off I guess. In your case, with such a big lift, it may work better.

Surprisingly there are not that hard to replace. You will need a puller to get the pitman arm off the box, and may need one to get the pitman arm off the drag link.

I have also noticed that some on this site have been having problems with Redhead customer service and that the warranty is not that good compared to the price.

You should be able to take the list and check out the Auto Hobby shop on ***. If it's still open they are back by U-132 around West C street.

Ford OEM is never a bad option, however in this case some of the after market rebuilds do have upgrades.

I find rock auto has a lot of choices on each part.
