Just like you can't categorize all diesels as slow black smoke belching catankerous pigs - you need to look again at the newer battery technology, manufacturing process and the recycling processes being put in place..

Brings up a valid point with hybrids.
The battery production in 3rd world countries is very toxic.

This section redacted considering well........

All countries including their own now are checking to see if they did it there as well.

Bad News for ALL

I am sure ford kept to epa regs. But it means they will be looking at all diesel more carefully then before. That's the part I don't like.

I have to say VW had *****, and they are in the process of being removed.

What I don't know if the cars sold in the USA meet the EU regulation? The US is tighter controlled then the EU for pollution.

They stated that will be looking at everybody now.
***** is not the word.
Intention takes it to the stratosphere. I highly suspect incarceration will be taking place.

Nope

No one is going to jail. It too hard to penetrate the corporate shield. Look at GM they out right killed people and hid it, and no one is in jail.

Should someone go to jail YES, in both cases. For GM it should be the gas chamber.

X2, as long as VW pays their fine, same as GM, it'll get swept under the rug. The EPA could care less about clean air or water, it's all about money and political leverage.

Nice. I wish my 6.7 was like this.

I have found that a lot of people who champion clean air and environmental concerns are hypocrites.
They drive around in vehicles, take the bus or fly. And then they use some made in China computer that is made out of petrochemicals.
People that bitch about vehicle emissions should not be driving.
I ride my bikes (bicycles) over 12 000km a year. Every year.

EPA

I looked over the report/study. I really feel for the manufacture the EPA has really pushes this past the point of reason.

Read only if you wish to sleep. The bottom of the report is where the meat is.

I'm hoping the fallout from this VW mess and the resulting bad taste the public will have for diesels in general will work to my benefit with my new F350 being built next month. If enough people are scared away from diesel anything for awhile, Ford may be offering some hefty rebates when the time comes to pick up my new truck.

I learned my lessons many years ago about VWs, or as we called them in those days "VDs".
That is the only brand of car that could make a Yugo look like a GREAT car. There are no words in the English language that can come close to describing how horrible they were. I cannot believe they are still in business and still screwing people over!
And that is the most complimentary thing I can say about them.

YMMV
