Factory Tweeters and Subwoofer With Aftermarket Headunit?

My '08 Lariat F-250 has the basic 4-speaker stereo system, and sounds terrible compared to my buddies '15 F-350 with the upgraded OEM Sony system... There is a local guy parting out a 2012 that had the Sony system, and the factory front tweeters (in the mirror sail panels) and factory 8" sub (formed plastic enclosure with integrated amp behind rear bench) are still there and available. Are these pieces worth grabbing and trying to use, or area they basically only good for the speaker mounting setups? That is to say, could I use the OEM Sony tweeters and tie them into an after market speaker with a crossover for front doors, and the OEM Sony sub/amp, all controlled by an aftermarket head unit? Or would I be better off buying factory matched aftermarket speaker sets and a separate amp and just using the FoMoCo enclosures?

I guess it depends on what that sub amp needs from the deck. If it takes a standard line-level input and 12V turn-on, that's OK. If it needs some weird digital bus connection, not so good. On the other hand, just having that custom-fit box could be useful. Sub amps are cheap enough if you can't use the original amp.
