I could not tell what the new parts were in photo 75, the one taken in the kitchen. When this is done, I have to come to Tennessee to see the result. Looks like it will be a radical transformation. I am amazed at what you have done in just three months!
Rob, I have just begun cleaning up the frame, it is in remarkable condition compared to the body panels. I was going to have it sand blasted but we only have one shop in town that can/is willing to do a frame and when the quote came in at around $400 and 3 months I decided to do it myself. I have been degreasing and sanding the frame and then just shooting a temp rattle can coat to keep new surface rust off. The front suspension is an 86 Jag XJS IFS, which basically bolts onto the frame. Since I'm building this truck for Patti I wanted power steering and disc brakes and this should soften the ride a bit too. I am keeping the Flathead, plan to at least pull the heads to see what it looks like inside. When I brought it home I did a couple of quick compression test and all but one cylinder was good. Since the engine had not run for so many years there could be a lot of reasons for one low cylinder. The first test showed that cylinder at 25lbs the second one showed it at 50lbs, so I don't think it is anything serious. I am planning to put the AOD (93 Ford Transmission) behind the Flathead. I picked up an Explorer rear end but with the AOD I may just keep the original Dana 44 rear in the truck. Picture # 75 is the fresh air duct work for the heater, it goes under the pass side fender to the grill area under the fender. Picture #24 shows what was left of the original.
