Stephan - Just sent you a PM that says:
OK, here's what is going out via USPS:
  • Hoses: The three hoses for the Thermactor system
  • Heat valve: The one for the intake manifold
  • Cap for the vapor recovery box
  • Carb vent valve arrangement - the simple one
  • Several valves that may be the SOL-V units plus associated brackets, connectors, and hoses
Rick - That means the more complicated HO bowl vent valve mess is still available. PM me?

Gary, thanks! Sent a pm.
For you and Bruno, great info and pics for that rod extension! Should be easy with that info you both provided. I've looked around yesterday, and that Edelbrock 8011 extension is actually not too expensive (13-17$). So for time considerations, I have ordered one, so I can concentrate on the bracket.
Just as a thought: should I consider to change the throttle cable against a shorter one? I will try your approach first, but the cable looks way too long. I simply don't like that S-bend from the firewall outlet to the bracket...

Opinions?

Shipment sent and PM answered. You should have the package on Monday.

On the throttle cable, Ford did have a few different lengths. But I doubt the small V8 you took out was enough smaller to make much of a difference. Surel the carb itself would have been in essentially the same position regardless of which Windsor engine was used. But, I'll look at the catalog to see.…

Assuming your current throttle cable is the original one it should be the shortest Ford made. What you should have is shown in green. Oddly enough, in '81 they used a longer cable, as shown in yellow.

I thought about that, and made it one word and even made it bold. But, I'd already marked up the snag of the catalog page in yellow, so...

But, you complained about the one word and didn't comment about the size of the catalog page. Note the double line between 86/87 F250/350 and 88 E150/350? There are actually two screen grabs to ensure they can be read.

You sure know how to work with your digital files. Thanks for the lookup. I'll look at my pics from the truck with the old engine in it to find possible improvements. I'm sure this will work somehow.
I'll keep you all posted on the progress and my approach. Sorry, not this weekend. Have some planned events with the family, so no time to head to the shop. (Sighs...)

I'm not as good with the files as Chris/ctubutis is, but I do have fun with them. (And, I have fun poking fun at him, and he me. So, don't read anything into our exchanges. )

Anyway, family comes first, and trucks second. So, have fun this weekend. And, come Monday you should have your Christmas present.

Excellent record keeping as usual Gary. I need to make another for Junior. I may have another. I thought we made two, but one was better than the other.

Yup, I knew that.

As for vacation, sorry about that. Hope the GTG will in some small way make up for AK.

Christmas

So , yesterday the package from Gary arrived. Thanks again and I can´t wait to tinker with it. Also the kickdown rod extension from Edelbrock made it. On the way are some other little pieces and now I´m aiming for the next weekend to fire that engine up and (fingers crossed) not to experience any major setbacks. But I still expect little challenges...

Will try to make a video of it, when it fires up the first time!

But first things first: let´s battle that nasty cold our little one brought home from Kindergarten, which kept us home Saturday and Sunday....
