1950 F3 Shop Truck

Here's some pics of my 1950 F3 shop truck I done last winter. Stock original drivetrain including the 239 8BA flathead & 4 speed. Swapped out the rearend for one from an F1 and just recently installed a Speedway Motors 3" front drop axle and lowering springs. Its painted scarlett red with a satin clear. I can post pics from the entire build if people are interested in seeing them.

Beautiful. Yes please post more photos.

Great inspiration. Can't wait to start working on my F3. Still waiting for the transport company to get it here.

Nice looking truck! Can you take a side view pic of the oil filter? Is it a Franz that uses toilet paper?

That was a silly question. You are new here so we will cut you some slack.
Your truck looks awesome!!
Post as many pictures as you can and detail your build. There is no way you will ever post too many pictures. It will feed our addiction and possibly help someone trying to do something you already have done.

I'll start to post some pics from the beginning. I bought the truck from a gentleman in southern Minnesota fairly cheap. It ran pretty good and still had the flathead which was what I was looking for. I built it as a "shop truck" not show quality by any means, just a good running, mechanically safe truck with some character to run to the parts store or as just a general conversion piece.

The day I brought it home

First order was to rebuild the carb & update the distributor with a Pertronix electronic ignition

Next order was to make it a little more Hot Rod & shorten up that long bed.

Its now a little over a 7' bed, 7' 1 1/2" if I remember right. Don't know if you'd call it a short long bed or long short bed

Next I started fixing some of the rust issues. It had several areas that were half ***'d patched and filled with body filler.

Rear fender repairs

Metal repairs done on one of the fenders. I wanted to keep the cost down on this one as much as possible by making all my own repair panels & primarily using left over material from other jobs I've done

Drivers side needed basically the same repairs, I didn't take the time to take many pics of it. The few I did take

Fenders body worked, epoxy primed and lastly 3 coats of 2k build primer

Wow, that looks nice. And now we have a good side view reference on what an 8' bed looks like when shortened a bit - and what is involved to do it.

Welcome and thank you.

What does the title say the truck is, F-1 or F-2? Longbed = F-2/3, but I see it has 5-stud wheels.

I have some spare time so I'll continue on. The bed was pretty much wrapped up at this point so I pulled the doghouse off and got started on the cab. It was actually very solid, but man it looked like someone took a baseball bat to the back of the cab and roof.

After a good sanding and a lot of dent repair

Masked up and epoxy primed (darker grey) followed by 2k build primer
