I never had an alternate vehicle other than whatever the wife has to drive... You all have NICE work cars. I just upgraded to a 2006 Ford Taurus and it's now in the shop needing a transmission. The loaner is a 2004 Buick with 157k miles on it.

BTW, used to have a couple of LX 5.0's with Tremec Manual Transmissions in them. I do miss driving it, even if they are scary to drive when it's wet out. I can't imagine trying to drive one in the snow/ice.

Nope,I spent 50k on my truck and im going to drive it everyday.Plus its more comfortable to me to sit in than a econo car.Cant complain at 17 mpg.Plus all my routine stuff would need to be switched back and forth between vehicles.I did it before with an econo car and sold it.Pain in butt and in the end I wasnt saving much.Upkeep on another vehicle, tires, insurance. But if I had the money for a new mustang I would drive that. But not for economy savings

Its all about wear and tear for me. We moved to South Ga to wrap up the older coal plant closures. We will be here awhile. It's 7-800 miles a week added to the odometer along with sitting under a pine tree at the camp ground during the week. When it is your turn to drive to the job site, 4 sweaty, filthy and muddy grown men wreak havoc on the interior of a truck. Fuel bill for the week went from $130-150/week to $45-60. I love driving my truck more than anyone, but watching it die a premature death cosmetically was enough to get a beater/road warrior.

You "won" a new vehicle? How did you do that?

My F-450 is the only vehicle I own. My wife has a nice Ram 1500 which I rarely drive. My DD's are my motorcycles. No trouble finding parking places with a motorcycle.

I can relate 100%. I've had my truck since November 2014 and it has 47,000 miles on it today. I will break 50k by the end of this month with 3-4 sweaty men riding along. I maintain and detail my truck as if it were actually mine but it really is just a work truck owned by our business. If it were really mine there's no way I would abuse it like I do and I don't blame y'all one bit for using another vehicle for practical reasons.

Can't really say it's better mileage but it definitely is easier to get in and out of stores and such. Oh also a blast to drive!

The company I work for has a company wide United Way yearly fund raiser with a grand prize of a new truck. The owner of the company puts up the money for the vehicle. The year I won it was a value of $23,500 from Ford.
It was for a Ranger, I switched to the Escape as I had an Excursion at the time.
It was a great deal at a perfect time! I drove away in the Escape without spending a dime till tax time came.... I would do it again in a heartbeat!!!

Much better fuel economy

My daily ride is a public bus. Costs me $50/month. Just about the most practical thing in a city. My wife drives a Prius, which I stay out of as often as possible
