Much better fuel economy

I never had an alternate vehicle other than whatever the wife has to drive... You all have NICE work cars. I just upgraded to a 2006 Ford Taurus and it's now in the shop needing a transmission. The loaner is a 2004 Buick with 157k miles on it.
BTW, used to have a couple of LX 5.0's with Tremec Manual Transmissions in them. I do miss driving it, even if they are scary to drive when it's wet out. I can't imagine trying to drive one in the snow/ice.

Nope,I spent 50k on my truck and im going to drive it everyday.Plus its more comfortable to me to sit in than a econo car.Cant complain at 17 mpg.Plus all my routine stuff would need to be switched back and forth between vehicles.I did it before with an econo car and sold it.Pain in butt and in the end I wasnt saving much.Upkeep on another vehicle, tires, insurance. But if I had the money for a new mustang I would drive that. But not for economy savings

Its all about wear and tear for me. We moved to South Ga to wrap up the older coal plant closures. We will be here awhile. It's 7-800 miles a week added to the odometer along with sitting under a pine tree at the camp ground during the week. When it is your turn to drive to the job site, 4 sweaty, filthy and muddy grown men wreak havoc on the interior of a truck. Fuel bill for the week went from $130-150/week to $45-60. I love driving my truck more than anyone, but watching it die a premature death cosmetically was enough to get a beater/road warrior.

I was lucky enough to win a 2008 Ford Escape XLT 4x4 with the V6 back when I was driving my Excursion with 185,000 miles on it. Sure has come in handy for an around town and to work vehicle. The Escape now has116,000 miles on it. Very thankful that it came to live with us!

The company I work for has a company wide United Way yearly fund raiser with a grand prize of a new truck. The owner of the company puts up the money for the vehicle. The year I won it was a value of $23,500 from Ford.
It was for a Ranger, I switched to the Escape as I had an Excursion at the time.
It was a great deal at a perfect time! I drove away in the Escape without spending a dime till tax time came.... I would do it again in a heartbeat!!!
