What is the coolest......

Just sitting here doing some thinking....

what is the coolest fab-work, gizmo, add-on etc that you have done to your ride?

That one thing, that when you show your truck to someone you always have to point it out

So far I cant really think of one specific thing on my truck but I do love the look of all of the AN/JIC hardware for oil and fuel lines.

I love the look people give when they see a DOHC 4.6L jammed in the engine bay

A very early mod: the MDD! (Modified Dog Dish) Cover I made for the lines for the AC/heater where they came thru the firewall (the original blower motor hole). Made from a stainless steel pet dish from the pet store.
before:

after: Matches my ss dual diaphragm brake booster on the driver's side.

I got this license plate from the estate of my friends dad. The dad worked on old cars and I really liked him. I used this plate to cover a terrible hack job by a previous owner. Think about Roland every time I look at it. I put the gauges in the plate. I think he would appreciate that.

I dont point out anything, I wait until I get the questions from the people studying things that look different but they cant quite figure it out. My last build has a fake air cleaner, home made gauges, and a home made 2/3 size steering wheel among other details.

I think bungees rule. You gotta throw one in there some where. Although I do like the pet dish and farm plate too.

Here is mine. I tried to copy 48Steel's reverse tilt hood on an F1, but couldn't figure it out to work right. So I figured out a way to do it another way, but only works on 51 & 52's.
I have two rods inside a sleeve with a spring that bottoms out at the two bolts. I made a receiver cup with a 3/16" hole in the middle on each fender to hold the pivot rod. To remove the hood I have to remove the wheels on each side, crawl under and push the pins in, one side at a time, with a flat punch (while some help holds the hood), pop the gas lift supports off, and it is removed. I used an Aerostar hood catch mounted on the firewall with a cable run to below the dash to open the hood. Works!

Custom one off license plate frame for an older larger license plate made on the mill & a pair of bed plugs made on the lathe . Bed plugs were made .005 big, put in freezer for awhile ,Taken out & installed .They shrunk just enough to expand & be held in by friction .Polished before install .

I didn't have a Ford motor, but that didn't stop me from looking like I did. I've had lots of fun with this. This is the motor in my 52 F1 daily driver. That is a 250 Chev.
