How Often Do You Visit the Dealer?
#18
Been to the dealer too many times. Bought a new truck to avoid problems. The '02 7.3 was better.
2x for DEF measurement level problem. Full tank but the computer said it was nearly empty and was counting down to limit speed etc.
2x for failed EGT sensor
1x for a recall
1x for terrible tire wear. Could not find a problem and the dealer did not have an alignment rack capable of handling the truck. Still a problem to this day. They tried to blame it on low tire pressure. Bull.
2x for coolant leaks - first time was a strong odor, second was a puddle of coolant under the truck. Both times unable to locate any issue and no issues since.
1x to check coolant quality (had to leave it as they couldn't do it hot)
So that is 9 visits, each requiring overnight. The dealer closes at the same time I get out of work almost 40 minutes away. Averages out to being there about 3 months. And I do my own oil fuel filter changes so can't even count that. The overnights are not generally because the truck was not ready but because they close too early for me to pick up the vehicle and return the rental.
Sometimes I wish I had put a few Gs into my old 7.3 and kept on keeping on. Sad to say. Especially considering the smooth power of this new 6.7 model. Maybe I'm too demanding but I need my vehicles to be solid. Things break, repairs are needed but not like this on a truck thats 2 years old and only has 37k on it.
Rant over.

My truck '12 truck is a little over 3 years old with ~73k miles. Truck has been to the dealer once for the emissions recall.
Replaced tires, windshield wipers and tested some Rancho 9000 shocks, but put the factory ones back on.
Best truck to date and it still puts a big smile on my face.

Sig truck is at 25,000 miles, and a total of three visits. Visit 1 and 2 were both for free oil changes. During visit 2, I had the emissions recall done. Neither of those visits took longer than a couple hours while I waited.
It is currently at the dealer for visit 3 - its first overnight visit. I had a "hill descent fault" and a cracked DPF leaving soot on the exhaust tips. Neither of those were worthy of making a special trip, so I did it when it was convenient and I'm in a rental until they give it back.

Been good truck so far
37k miles
Been in the dealership for
3 times TSP tire sensor, Ford never fixed this went across the street to discount tire they pulled the codes and replaced a sensor. 10k miles since no issues.
1 times for the door rattle, Warranty expired before I could get it fixed.
2 times for frequent regen. Ford said no problem. I hit a rock at 36k miles and had to order a new exhaust system and a computer. I need to fix this still.
I would say ford likes to say no problem found. So I would not suggest a ford warrantee.
