Am I crazy for wanting to upgrade to a 6.7 PSD???

Or the 6.7 Cummins in the 2015 Ford F-650 - F-750:
"The standard engine is the ISB 6.7L. It features the latest Cummins technology, including full-authority electronic controls, a high-pressure common-rail fuel-injection system, 24-valve design, the patented VGT turbocharger, a particulate filter and more. The 6.7L comes in your choice of 11 horsepower and torque ratings.* For 2015, the ISB 6.7L onboard diagnostics includes OBD-2 with greater memory capacity."

Makes you wonder doesn't it?

Interesting. Couldn't find it on the actual Ford website.
"Ford will offer three diesel engine power ratings with the 6.7L Power Stroke V-8 turbo diesel on its next-gen F-650 and F-750 medium-duty trucks when they arrive for the 2016 model year."
2016 Ford F-650/F-750 to Offer 3 Diesel Power Ratings - News - Automotive Fleet
I am glad Ford is comfortable. But I was once warned never to buy the first iteration of anything.

Mine is an excursion and 2wd and was paid for when I drove it home for the first time, do I wish it was 4wd? Yes. Do I wish it was a truck? Yes sometimes. I am no mechanic by no means but when I can turn to this site and YouTube to fix a problem with my ex 2 days ago to keep me from being stranded up in the hills of NC. Priceless! And that 7.3 sounds good rolling through the hills. And did I mention no truck payment and damn sure not a 700 buck one. I stopped into a dealership last week and the salesman said I will check back with you and let you know what we have on our other lot . Well he did and I told him I had a change of heart. Not ready to let her go yet

well I run around worrying about the day I get down to two windows that will roll down from just three. new electronics sound wonderful ... but learning that even the 6.7 owners, after all that the 6.0 and 6.4 owners went through, still don't suggest owning after warranty runs out ... I'll probably take my 7.3 over 500K
good thread though, thanks

I towed my loaded TH with my 7.3 and a 6.7 back to back. Loved the 6.7. Made towing 13,000+ pounds a breeze. I would even let my wife tow our rig with. Quiet, comfortable, road great, yanked my trailer with ease. Night and day difference compared to my 7.3.
Loved everything about it but the price.
I average about 7,000 miles a year on my truck. 50/50 towing daily driving. She tows well under 10,000lbs, I can work on it and its paid off. It just doesn't make sense for me to take on that dept for the 4,500 miles a year I tow heavy.
I will be keeping her for a while. My boy is 5 and this will hopefully be his first truck.

well, after bragging about old green in this thread, jumped in old green this morning and took off for work.
about 10 miles down the road noticed the engine sounded a little different. looked over and saw the fuel pressure gauge dropping to 0......
did not have time to waste, so turned around and called the wife to tell her would be taking her truck today. have to admit- driving a new vehicle for work is nice. remote start is nice. clients made several nice comments... nice!!, but payment..... not so much.
it's not a big deal to fix old green. last year, this issue came up, and after replacing all filters and even the fuel pump- the issue remained. in frustration, blew air backwards through the lines and it cleared the problem.
obviously picked up some gunk at a station somewhere. luckily, this is not a big issue at all and will not take much to fix (~2 beers). it is just extremely inconvenient. this time, though, we are going to add a valve in the line so it can simply be opened to blow air through if this happens again, lol.

We've got a 6.7 at work in an F550. Trying to tow a whopping 12,000 pounds today down the long, flat freeway, it lost power. Guys pulled over to the side of the road and couldn't get it re-started. Around 85,000 miles on the truck currently and after a couple hundred dollar tow bill, it's currently sitting at the Ford house waiting on warranty work (hopefully).
My old, worn out 7.3 had to go and pick up the trailer so the tow truck could deliver the 6.7 to the dealer.
Me too.
Oh wait, I've already done that.
It's been mentioned more than once in threads I've participated in. Here's one example.

Have to laugh, interesting formula rating the amount of time taken to repair by number of beers needed to complete

funniest service estimate--> my buddy was hitting on a lady at our local watering hole, and she was very upfront and told him to wait a little while. he looked like a 6 drink type of guy...
give her credit for honesty.

The sad part is, when hearing this, most guys will just wait, and maybe even count drinks. You tell a girl that and she won't have anything to do with you for the next 10 years.
