Hey George I have a Galaxie question..
My son wants to put a 4 barrel carb on it and was asking if you need to put silicone around the ports of the intake manifold for a gasket??
He said he was checking on the net and some say you need it and others say you don't..
I never did one so I don't know..
Have you ever done one??

Gaskets yes 302 and 390.
390 Some use the gaskets on the heads and rtv sealer at the ends. We used to have problems with the rear gasket coming loose causing oil leak down the back of the engine. We would take a center punch and "dimple" the block where the gasket would sit. Plus some regular gasket sealer. Some like to use a dab of RTV black in the 4 spots where the head and block gaskets meet.
