Looks beefy!

I am shocked SHOCKED! that my pontoon is rated for a 90hp motor with just a sheet of 3/16" aluminum plate and a couple pieces of plywood bolted to it. This whole deal is held to the boat by 4 3/8" bolts...

I will be sticking a 115hp+ on it at some point though. After I do some work obviously.

Yeah, I'd like a pontoon boat later in life once I have kids/a family. They really can't be beat in the family department.

Bolted on with enough silicone to keep the titanic afloat. Drilled out the plug as well.

Next step is building and glossing the splash well.

Sorry I missed your post.

Decided to cap the she with aluminum as well and had a family member do the welding today - my welding skills are new at best, and aluminum is a bit of a trick to do well I hear.

I used the template to drill the outboard mount holes after this picture. Will begin building the splash well on Monday I think since it's a holiday.

Cheers,

Nate

Spent this holiday Monday working on the boat - 14.5 hours. Made fantastic headway though. Will sand some this week and then should be ready to be painted next weekend.

Is that glass or acrylic?

Looking good! Will it have an on board gas tank yet or portable tanks?

I wouldn't take that bet because I am leaning that way too, but with the internets now days you just don't know.

So true, he may have switched over to the flux capacitor since there's so much information on the internets...

About 7 coats of fiberglass resin, we will see how it holds up without the fiber - wasn't added for strength just to help seal the wood.

It has quite a large inboard tank that was there to feed the previous thirsty 350. Don't know the size yet, will figure it out once I run a bit of gas through it.

Good call

So I spent the week hand sanding - shoot me. Finished the morning... I do not envy the life of a body man.

The hours and hours of sanding were worth it though after the paint guy did his work. I love the outcome. Can't wait to peel off the tape and put the stainless accessories back on. I think it should look really good for the sort of budget project it is.

Should be working on getting the motor on tomorrow night.

Cheers,

Nate

Took tape off and reinstalled accessories. Put the canvass up just for a test fit- I hate the look of canvasses up - they make boats look goofy in my opinion. Ruin any sort of sporty look. It will only ever be up in a rain situation.

Also dropped the motor on - the new transom didn't even flinch.

I really like the way the wood slats turned out against the metallic blue. I think they will look good up front once I finish them.
