Glad you got the issue figured out. Trains quick connect fittings were a pain on my radiator swap also.

I'm curious about something you mentioned in PM and someone here will likely know. Has anyone had a leaking oil cooler in a truck with red ELC coolant? If so, does the milkshake look a normal brown/tan color or does it pick up some of the red color and turn pink?

I do not think coolant color makes a difference. I have no experience with red mixing but green coolant still makes brown/tan milkshake.
Transmission fluid on the other hand gives it a redish tint.

True, green coolant doesn't make a green milkshake .

You asked a good question tho. Does synthetic oil make a different color milkshake than dino oil?? The other side of the coin.

Good catch! SP, LV and Valvoline Max Life are the only correct fluids as far as I know.

Weii I'm back, oredered another radiator. It came in yesterday afternoon, and yes we had to do a little modifying on the connections, but its working now.

As for the milkshake, mine was pink when hot and slowly turned slightly browner as it cooled and started to separate.

As for trans fluid, I went to Ford dealer they sold me Mercon V, said it would work. Now you have me wondering if I should use Valvoline Max life to do a quick drain and fill on the pan. I was planning to do this this afternoon after I finish the Simple Green flushing.

Got lucky on the trans, caught it before it back fed into the trans. The group will not believe what led to my being under the hood in the first place. I may try to post pics and a short explanation.

Merton V is not the right fluid. I wouldn't use it. (Don't get that guy to work on your trans either)

Which Ford dealer?? Regardless, use Mercon LV or SP OR Valvoline Maxlife. Mercon V might make a mess of the trans solenoids.

It was Sallisaw Ford dealer, what about using the universal Mercon/Dextron fluid? That is what I used to top off trans after the radiator replacement. Took about 2 quarts.

I prefer SP and pay extra for it. "Fits all" fluid is a no-go also in my opinion. I don't have the knowledge to explain exactly why but the transmission is an expensive part to gamble on for just a few bucks.
