I received mine on Saturday. Ordered on Wed. That was quick shipping for such a heavy item. Poor mail girl almost couldn't carry it. No discount yet, but I'm sure it will be refunded. Now I just need to find the time to do the swap, so I can send my core back.

'Ordered on Thursday, July 10, verified on Friday, and received today (Monday, July 13). I'm in the SF Bay Area.

It was packaged in a flat shipping box and the box arrived VERY beat up. I think the only thing that was holding it together was all packaging tape. Splines look good on both ends... I'll swap it in this coming weekend.

Meanwhile, back to wiring up the 73's dual battery and all of its subsystems.

Keep filling and turning the wheel until your level with the dip stick.

Got mine today and installed it. OMG how good is this gearbox! Took almost all the slop out of the van. Fantastic.

Got mine on Wednesday. Unfortunately they shipped the wrong box. Should have the new box next week. They have pretty detailed bleeding instructions on their website.

I know, old question but what type of fluid are you guys running in these? I heard of using ATF instead of PS fluid.

It looked like they had atf in it but I had a few bottles of ps fluid so I used that. Either should be fine. I had no issues bleeding. lifted the front end off the ground and turned the wheel back and forth about 20 times. Fired it up and it was fine.

Got the Red Head 78/79 Bronco box installed in my '73 (with the retrofitted 78/79 links and such) and the slop is gone .....and I haven't even hooked up the hoses. It used to have "three hours" of play. No longer will I have to wander in a lane from left to right in order to keep the thug going straight. Wooohooo.

I'll finish it up tomorrow cuz I'm out of Type F.

Guys couple things. One has anyone gotten the refund for the group discount yet? Charged full price, and didnt see the discount.

Second, questions on the pitman arm. I am having difficulty getting mine off. The puller I had was too small, so I ordered a larger one from amazon. When I do get it off, how do you properly index it so it goes back in the same position? Is there a special keyway or anything, or do you just try to get it back on in an approximate position? Lastly, any torque specs on the big nut, or do you just crank it down tight?

My pitman has two wide splines set 90° apart. Center the steering box and it should be evident relative to the wheels being straight.

No discount yet... I guessing they're gonna wait til you send the core back to them.

Mine was a major pain to get off. Heated it and soaked it in PB and nothing. I finally chucked the pump in a vice, put an impact on the pitman until it wouldnt move anymore then soaked it in pb again and went to bed. I woke up, put a big squeez on the impact gun and it came right off. Patience and plenty of PB.

Got mine on. But I'm thinking I still have air in my box... It getting harder to turn to the right. My left works perfect. Any other suggestions? Should I unhook the steering linkage and turn left and right and see what happens? Would it be any different outcome with the truck jacked up and moving the steering wheel then?
