This was the reason I swapped to 05 coil axle. The better turning radius and brakes alone is worth it for me. My 4wd EX with 35" tires brake way better than my 2wd EX with stock tires, and turns just as sharp. I strongly believe in 05+ SD front axle and 08-10 rear spring swap.
Full Traction is too proprietary for me. 05+ SD axle swap, I have more suspension choices.
I did take some pictures of what I think is important. There are more than 1 way of bolting on the radius arm bracket to the frame. The rest is self explanatory or can be talk through easily.

Some things are, but when swapping in axles, for a shade tree/back yard mechanic like most of us, how-to threads are one of the main reasons we have these forums!
I was hoping you either had put together a thread I was not aware of, or you could put one together. I'd love to have a front axle upgrade added to the tech folder.
00X, you should swap over the bigger brakes and newer suspension from the current 2WD Super Duties to your 2WD Excursion. Both are Twin I-Beams so the conversion should theoretically be easier than it was on your 4WD Excursion.
I always thought about this conversion on my 2WD Ex, but it's gone now so no need to dream about it.

I thought about this many times, but my 2wd EX is a V10. I'm not sure if I want to dump more money into something I might not keep. I love the 2wd EX, except the fuel mileage. If I can get parts at a reasonable price, then I'll do it for the brakes and the 05+ SD wheels.
Sorry for off topic OP. But Full Traction costs too much. 05+ axle swap significantly cheaper and better in every way. Plus the flexibility of keeping it stock or install aftermarket lift kits of your choice.

Would it be as easy as I'd imagine it would since the suspension is the same? Imagine that, combined with the newer rear suspension as well...that would be a pretty smooth riding Excursion with some beefy brakes

I'm sure the it's a bolt on swap.
08 rear spring rides like 08 SD truck. If you swap to 08 Carli Suspension rear springs and shocks then the ride will be smoother. But then you have to lift the front 6" to match the rear since 2.5" SD lift is equal to 6" 2wd EX lift.
What stops me from doing this conversion is the uncertainty of keeping my 2wd EX.
Do the springs from the most recent trucks work as well; like from a '15 Super Duty? Because those ride really well. I'm referring to 4WD trucks and Excursions now.
If the 2015 spring design is the same as 2011 design, then it will work. But I wouldn't convert and then leave it stock. The reason I like the 08+ rear spring is because of Carli Suspension. They custom tune their shocks to match their deaver springs.

Is that what you have planned for your 4WD Excursion?
That is my intention for the swap. But everytime I'm ready to buy, I ended up with a good deal and delay my Carli Suspension purchase. The reason I have 2wd Ex, 94 F350 7.3 and a wrecked 97 Dodge Cummins.
I know it's been awhile Stewart. But I really want to do a thorough job. You have to trust me, my communication/writing skill is probably at an elementary level. I am haven't forgot. I will get it done by this Friday, 5/29
