Good Morning Everybody!

I think I got everything switched around and fixed on the Chevy engine swap so I can set it in the truck today and get it hooked up. What a piece of crap. The driver's side engine mount was broken, so I called to get a new one. They don't offer a part number even. I called every parts store chain and nobody had a listing. In desperation I called the dealer. They have a part number, but the part was discontinued and no dealer IN THE COUNTRY has one. An engine mount? REALLY??!! So I made a piece to weld the old one back together so I could put the engine back in. That's not to mention every sensor and part bolted to the new engine was different, so I had to swap everything over and even drill and tap a new hole for the old style knock sensor. .....I hate Chevys. They've always been a huge pain to do engine swaps on.

Good afternoon all.

Ever had one of those moments when you just get an overwhelming urge to do something other than what you'd planned on? Well I gave in to one this morning and drove myself to work rather than carpool. My ride to work was uneventful, but the gal I ride with managed to collect a deer in the windshield of her car. There's more, it was the 2nd one this week. The first was Monday morning when a small one darted out in front of her and she caught it in the dead center of her grill. It crumpled up the front of the car a bit and messed up one headlight, but otherwise the car was fine. Today she caught one as it charged out of the woods and tried leaping over the road. Yep - caught the entire side of the deer with the windshield. She's pretty shook up and will be sore in the morning, but otherwise OK. The car, however, is totaled.

Yeah, ....I can't fix that.

I got the Chevy engine swap all back together and fired up. It runs great but it's hemorrhaging oil from the oil cooler adapter. I got a new seal kit for it, so I have to take care of that tomorrow morning, but then it's ready to ship.

Today is the first day with my new/old helper. Oh, boy, I missed him. "Hey Eric, go put that P/S pump in and get the car to steer." An hour and a half later, the car is all set and ready to go. *big sigh of relief* YES! He got a few other small jobs out and started on the trans swap today. I am SO happy to have him back. I'll be able to crank out some work, now. I'm gonna put him in charge of the repair work and leave me open for the body and fab work.

wow dave that was bad.. glad everyone was alright..

good to hear you got your helper back alan.. i know you needed it..

i spent the day fixing tires, jacking up, and moving cars around.... just to have the guy who traveled all the way from Peoria who called last night and told me over the phone he "was definitely" going to buy and pick up the 69 impala.. well after all that work he came and said he had to think about it some more!!!!!!.. i think i should just give up and crush every car and truck i own that way i will get paid, and wont hear any complaints !!!!!!

Sorry to hear that, once again, someone wanted something for nothing RC. It is sad that people trying to sell project vehicles for a fair price actually have to say something in the ad that low ballers and gawkers shouldn't bother to respond. Don't give up on the classics - it would a shame to see it all wind up making a fleet of Hyundais.

I'm thinking about trying to make a run your way next weekend to pull those axles. This weekend is out due to the oldest graduating followed by Mother's Day.

Good morning everybody. Dave, somebody was looking out for you. RC, sorry to hear another knothead jerked you around, Biopsy? WTF? You're too young to have anything that needs a biopsy to diagnose.

Evening all.

In 24 hours my oldest graduates from high school. I guess I'm going to have to stop thinking I'm still 27...
