lol Pat. I took a bunch, just for you. I'll make a thread when things calm down here.

It looks like he took a bumper off another car, then put it under this bumper. Do plastic bumpers on new cars have a metal bumper underneath? If so, I think that's what it is, but he cut the middle out so he could attach the truck's bumper to the frame. I'm not sure why he didn't just do that, though. Every time I try to get something done I find this kind of crap. I'm really frustrated.

That's just brilliant. Well, if you can find one in a salvage yard, you can cut off more than you need, and have a welding shop weld it back on to match the other side. This is ridiculous, some people shouldn't be allowed to use any sort of cutting tool!!!LOL

I need to see what it's supposed to look like. I'll post something in the slick page eventually.

Howdy Steve. That looks like a real hack job - hopefully he didn't cut both sides so you have some idea as to what should be there.

Yeah. I think. Both are the same, and there's no place to connect the bumper. I remember my 63 had a tri-bolt bumper. This is a 64, so I'm not sure how it goes. This bumper might not even be for this truck. It's chrome, and only has one bolt on each side.

Are there brackets missing that maybe connect the factory bumper? Or, can you actually see torch or cut marks?

not sure yet. the ends are similar. maybe i'm wrong and it needs some kind of bracket on the end of the frame sides. i may have jumped to conclusions when i saw the home made brackets.

Maybe he was putting on a bumper from the 74 Econoline van that seems to be the donor vehicle for the engine (and a few other things) and the brackets that are on a 64 for the bumpers didn't work, so he did this. I'm not sure if there are brackets on the 64 normally, or if the bumper goes directly onto the frame. If there are brackets, I might have to find another bumper if i want to do it right. i need to investigate more. I'm glad I talked to you guys, though. I need to think more and not vent so much.

Steve, look at the link that I posted... it show the brackets for mounting a '64 bumper.
