That's exactly what they said it was last time, either my driving style or because the truck is still in break in mode. Update - dealership just called and they are saying the truck is getting 20mpg's so now when I get there they are suppose to show me how they achieved this. Isn't this going to be interesting.

Left mine at the dealer today for the airbag light being on all the time,, from new! Did pass the 100 mile mark by 2 miles before getting there.
Ok here's the update from the dealership, they say my truck is getting 18 mpg's combined city/highway. I ask how they figured this out, and I also asked what they did to the truck to achieve this and they said they did nothing. All they did was run some test and take it on a designated route of 40 miles mapped out by Ford Motor co. I obviously asked for this route and did it for myself TWICE and got the same as they did 18 mpg's combined city/highway. My concern now being my tires are aired up to max pressure which is 52 psi, when I brought it in it had 48 psi, but remember they did nothing to the truck mmmhmmm sure about that. Also this "route" was 30 miles highway at 65 mph and 10 miles city mixed 35/45 mph sure doesn't sound like a good combined driving test to me. After being on the highway for 30 miles shouldn't the truck say umm let me see like 23 mpg as they claim it should get not 18. That's pretty far off. I'm almost certain they had to recalibrate something in the computer to even be getting these numbers from how bad it was. Any thoughts on their test and claims of doing nothing to the truck I call BS!

It's not that Im angry more disappointed, 1st - wouldn't you call a 30 mile run on the highway "highway" miles, the truck should have been getting 23 mpg's or atleast close to it not -5. 2nd - so apperently I have to drive Fords designated route to get decent mileage, shouldn't I pretty much be able to drive any place in the city to get city milage not just where they say I can. 3rd - riding on fully maxed out tire pressure make the ride more rough and I've never had to do that to a vehicle to get decent milage. 4th - why have I actually had to spend any of time on this. I should be ordering assesories and planning trips and just injoying the truck and not being Fords quality control. Angry no, disappointed yeah maybe a bit but wouldn't you be to if you just dropped 60k and didn't get what was promised. Let me do add a good note the truck has great power and will rival any V8 powered truck from any company no doubt about that!
Let me also comment on Ford's test route they mapped out for the dealership to test the truck on. It was 10 miles city 30 miles highway 40 miles round trip which they called that combined average I very familiar with the rout I drove it twice to be certain. Shouldn't it have been more of a 50/50 split to get the combined number. Also the first half of the city driving was all down hill then a mostly flat road back to the highway. Wouldn't the test be more acurate if it went down one street then do a U turn and right back up the hill I mean street you just came down to get to back to the highway. Heck I think it got better mpg's on their city route then it did on the highway since most of it was down hill then mostly flat. Please tell me I'm not crazy for thinking all this. I can't be, there were 2 other trucks there with the same concern. Or maybe I'm just crazy.
I would be disappointed. I think Ford may be over-bragging about the efficiency of their engines. I don't think real world MPG in these are close (any better at least) to GMs 6.2 or Rams HEMI.
Hopefully it just needs to break in.
I have seen 17 highway in my big 1 ton gasser. Although City is more like 12.
The mpg on the dash is an average rating. It won't just bump up to 23 when you get on the highway unless you reset the mpg gauge so that it is only looking at highway miles. That is unless it works differently than the one in my 07 f150.

Mpg gauge was reset for each test also I have done a manual calc on my other tests. I additionally went and did their road test myself exact same route as they did and for a second try I reset the mpg gauge at start of both portions city 10 mile portion and highway 30 mile portion. Keep in mind these test are of the truck basically under no load trying extremely hard not to let the turbos kick in. Most people just started to go around me and I think a few grandmas in there 1980 Lincolns were going around me also at the start of every light even though I did get up to and stay with in 5 mph + &- as Ford requested. I've noticed at a stop the truck is wasting a lot of fuel also in just 2 minutes the mpg gauge dropped 2 mpg's and doesn't go back up as fast as it goes down. I'm going to redo the first half of the city driving test route in one direction then turn around and go right back this should give a better approximate, then maybe I should try it again at normal driving style.
You sure are burning a lot of fuel trying to make sure you are saving on fuel . Drive it for a couple months and just see if it gets better. No sense in sweating it. You just got the truck. Enjoy it and revisit it when its more broken in. You have high ethanol gas in it by any chance?
I think ford tests/rates their trucks with 100% petrol where as most pump gas is at least 10% ethanol, which will hurt MPG.
