Edith has company in the shop, Welcome Dolly

You're a lot more optimistic than I am. My goal is for summer 2017.
Well, I am venturing into some very new territory. Dollie is entailing a lot more technical work than when I did Edith. A few years ago I would have never even thought of attempting a project like this, but all the knowledge, help and support from this group has given me the courage to move forward with this build. Underthebridgejim has inspired me to expand my limits.
It's uncanny in a way, when I did Edith I leaned a lot on my buddy Roger for his mechanical skills. Roger has been a GM mechanic and race car builder for years, but I did have to do the flathead research for the Edith build. It felt pretty good when he came over to help me with the IFS, and it was my turn to take the lead and explain to him how we were going to do the install.
I'm still probably a month or two away from completing the IFS install as I need to fab the front mounts and install them as well as designing and fabricating the shock towers and mounts.

Gee Joe your moving rite along on Dolly. You have the motor running, you have sourced a Jag IFS, and a Explorer 8.8. not to mention an AOD trans, and a new bed. And now your in the fun task of cleaning off old frame Yuk. For that job I got tired of using my tiny suction sand blaster that did an area the size of a silver dollar every15 minutes
,and having a wire cup wheel fall in the crotch of my jeans while running and locked in the on position, and finally getting a piece of brass off another wire wheel end up in my eye. So I broke down and rented a large compressor the ones they use to run Jack hammers and a sandblaster that goes to it , picked up some fine washed sand at the lumber yard and knocked it out in an afternoon, I even did all my sheet metal being careful not to warp things by staying in one spot for to long. I did it all with the exception of the inside of the cab. Any way I just stopped by to admire your work and hopefully pass on some words of encouragement and enthusiasm. You are doing a wonderful job and have about a million years of experience and knowledge at you disposal. Keep up the good work, There is no doubt in my mind that you will do a great job, and enjoy every minute of it. Your Rockin it Dude!

Not a problem at all Jimmy, I appreciate the info on the blaster, however my frame is in amazing shape and with my COPD I think trying to do the big sandblasting job like you did would not be an option.

Wow, just realized how long it has been since I updated this build thread. Between some family health and financial issues this project got sidetracked for a while. I sold Edith just before New Years so after getting caught up on some bills some much needed funding for this truck has come available. Got a chance last month to get the chassis back in the shop where I spent time finishing the front mounts for the Jag IFS and also did some cleaning and paint on the underside of the frame. I also removed the rear axle and the broken springs, repaired a damaged spring hanger and prepared to install new rear springs.
In addition to prepping the frame, I worked on the spare tire carrier too.
The transmission crossmember will be removed to make room for the AOD
Old springs off and hanger repaired
New front mounts for Jag IFS
This mounts are a bit oversized, they will be modified after final fitment.
