Where is the logic
So I am replacing the wires and spark plugs on my '02 Ranger. Went to the typical parts houses and they didn't carry Motorcraft wire sets. I didn't want to go with a universal one size fits all, so I went to the local dealership. They didn't stock them and wanted $92 dollars for the wire set. That seemed really high to me. I went to Rock Auto and found (and bought) them for $38+$6 shg. I know dealerships would be more expensive but over 100% more than a competitor? Even if you want to support your "local" guy, how can you when they fleece you at every interaction???

It's been a while since I bought parts from the Ford dealership for the Fords that I currently have. My stuff is pretty old - they stopped stocking parts for them or parts are no longer in production. However, I do buy Toyota parts from the dealer for my '07. Every time they give me a price, I jokingly respond with "Are those things made of gold" or "Sheesh, I thought Toyotas were inexpensive to own", they then tell me that "I can give it to you for $XX.XX", which happens to match the online price for Toyota parts. Sometimes, all I have to do is give them a look and the price drops. However, I have noticed that the gal at the parts counter doesn't send the reduced price to the cashier and I ended up paying the higher price. She's gotten me more than once, so shame on me. Anyway, you might try asking if they'll match the online price. They probably won't match Rock Auto, but they may match the price from the online OEM Ford parts dealers such as fordpartsnetwork.com or similar.
