I called today to discuss this RMA situation. Shipping with insurance is $50. The average cost of repair is $150. Since it is over 2 yrs since I purchased it, the alternator will not be covered under their warranty (never mind it took almost 4mo to get the damn thing).
SO basically I can pay $200 to repair my $600 alternator. Yeah, I don't think so. Maybe I'll get another 2 yrs out of it.
I'll take it to a local repair place.
If this alternator is so great, why the crap warranty? Well start to finish, it has been an unpleasant experience with DC power and I certainly will not be a repeat customer.

What if you need more than the 140A? XDP claims 10% off for FTE members, but I've never really heard much about these:
Leece-Neville 230 Amp High Output Alternator AVI160T2002-2
Mean Green High Output Alternator 8478

Now I must keep my fingers crossed on the "life expectancy" of mine. I too have the OE style boxed up in the garage, which turned out to be 1 of those Duralast Lifetime units from Autozone (was on there when I bought the truck) so hell that 1 has already lasted at least 4 years....
