Did you Fummins ?
I recently acquired a nice 2004 F-450 (w/ 6.0l.) and it promptly had a "Heart Attack".. (blew engine). Soo.. I thought to myself... I have loved the 5.9 litre Cummins that came in three of my service trucks... hhmmmm. Maybe I will make a "Fummins" outa my Big Red One ! I located a 5.9l, 24v. with just over a hundred k on it, and have begun the "transplant"..
I'm probably one of the most senior members on this forum, soooo.. I started thinkin' again... I am sure that some of the younger (and smarter) members have done this 6.0 / Cummins swap before, why not ask them for some time saving hints.. sooo.. Now I'm askin'..
I have the 6.0 out and gone, but I did save all of the wiring harnesses and other peripheral junk.. Now comes that harder part.. I am looking at the kit provided by "De_Stroked", is this a good place to start?
I'm planning to use the original 5R110 tranny, as it seemed to shift very well before the 6.0 had her coronary.. and I am aware that I will have to slide the tranny back a bit to make room for the Big Six.. What I am not comfortable with is, how to adapt everything else electronically.
Can any of you members shed some simple language information that an "Old Geezer" may be able to comprehend..?? I plan to photo document the process from here to end of job, so to maybe help others crazy enough to do the same thing.. I truly thank all for any suggestions and time saving hints that I may receive.. Thanks...

I have just started the same conversion. I really wanted to make the 5r110 work in my conversion, just didn't like the answers I got from the tranny shops. However, if your planning on keeping the hp around stock level, i've seen the 5r110 work. A friend of mine is on his second commonrail swap and has made the 5r110 work both times. I will be using a 4r100 from Brian at BTS, but also increasing hp drastically.
Same friend went with ford-cummins the first time, and has had longer than normal shipping times with destroked. If we don't do the king ranch harness ourselves, I will probably go thru ford-cummins. Also keep in mind that the 5r110 requires some programming, and some companies will help you tune it. it takes some time, but find someone that will help you get it right.
those were my biggest concerns, Hope this helps!
