Hey guys, my 97 is due for some injectors. I was fairly set on the "baby swamps" but then I talked to a guy who suggested I skip them and go for stage 2s, 160cc. He said he's run both and the stage 2s made the truck run much better/cooler. Since they empty so fast you can shorten the timing window. Any thoughts or suggestions? I'm going to do a terminator HPOP too either way. Are there any other mods that would absolutely need to be done for stage 2s? My truck is mostly stock right now; just intake, exhaust and tune.
If your buddy tells you that the 2's run cooler than baby swamps, he's full of it imo. 2 trucks the same except those injectors, the 2's WILL be hotter.
When bill did his it ran good :-) but was smokey ,his new stock clutch would not hold and you will HAVE to be careful about over speeding the stock turbo and melting it down from egts as well. It will run...Much better tho with proper supporting mods.
If you plan on a t4 turbo setup and much better clutch down the road maybe go for it.
If you plan on staying stock turbo then go stage ones!!
what about a bolt on turbo like the Beans D66? I'd rather hold off on the T4 setup but its a possibility down the road but I wouldn't mind doing the D66. Anybody have any experience or insight on that?
Or switch over to a SD type mount and do a gtp38r. That is better and if you look around SD takeoff parts are dang near free.I plan on that for my brothers truck. I have almost all of it and basically have nothing in it.
Much cheaper than t4 but not nearly the turbo options tho.

2's can run cooler if set up correctly due to the larger nozzles and better atomization but before you spend the extra 7k to support 2's you have ask yourself if its worth it for what you do with your truck. Tuning Is the key here
Now if you drop in 2's and keep everything stock then you are asking to melt a engine.
I hate to disagree with you Mike, but I have to somewhat, you are pushing quite a bit more fuel than ones. Then you have to burn that much more fuel. More fuel, more heat. Take Glenn and me as a comparison. Basic same setup. I'm way cooler than he is. EGT wise that is.
